1989 Chevrolet S10 Tahoe 119,xxx miles Recently I replaced the intake manifold gaskets on this truck, which many of you know is a very extensive repair involving lots of parts to come off of the top of the engine. The truck did start and drive after this repair, however it had the timing "messed up" due to removing the distributor but it was running roughly. I decided to try to properly set the initial timing by finding TDC, etc and now it won't turn over, actually currently the starter motor won't turn the engine at all (maybe the starter is bad, its grinding) but it was turning fine before, i don't think the motor is locked or anything. It should be said that I did find some water in the oil while changing the gaskets, but it was still running fine before hand, some white smoke at first but it seemed to go away. I purchased the truck about 1 year ago (last may or june) from its original owner and drove it for about 5,000 miles (check the history report) relatively trouble free after putting several new parts in it (listed below) until it started leaking coolant. This is a throttle body injected model. This truck would be great to use for parts, the drivers side front fender is a new part, the usual rust holes have been filled in with fiberglass bondo and metal strips where it was deep, nothing was very bad though. The windsheild washer bottle/pump is missing. The following is a list of all the new parts: Radiator Water Pump Hoses/Belt Battery Intake gaskets cap and rotor, plugs and wires replaced when I first got it, plugs may be fowled now. all new shocks front brake pads, the brakes worked very smoothly no squeals or vibrations although one of the rotors has some scoring. Transmission cooler lines, the trans shifted perfectly it is the 4speed with OD (4l60e), which is used in full sized v8 models as well, so this application was very light duty for it. Ignition coil Muffler, mid and tail pipes replaced A/C was converted to R134 and was working fine before all of this, should still be fine. I will include the JVC CD stereo shown in the pics, which works great, its not new, I believe its about 5 years old, however it works fine and is sirius satelite ready, I will include the sirius receiver that is attached to the head unit for an additional $50 if wanted. Also the truck has NEW 4x6 pioneer speakers in the front which were about $90, and it does have factory 4x10 speakers in the rear but they are original and sometimes crackle but not too bad. Truck is a Tahoe model so it has power locks, windows, and cruise control all of which work.
