Vehicle Detail

When the R1200C was introduced as a 1998 model, it became an instant classic. Combining traditional cruiser styling with BMW quality and reliability, it quickly became one of the best selling bikes for the marque and was even featured in the James Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies. Here is your chance to own an amazing example of this bike. For sale is a 2000 model R1200C with rare blue paint. It is in excellent condition, both mechanically and cosmetically. It features an 1170cc horizontally opposed engine, front and rear disk brakes, as well as ABS. It just easily passed an NC safety inspection. The low center of gravity on this bike makes it a joy to ride and it is incredibly stable. I have seen fuel economy in excess of 50 mpg on road trips, but I get closer to 36 mpg commuting around town (it is a lot of fun to accelerate away from stops). (click on any image to embiggen) As you can tell, this bike was always kept garaged. It also includes a new Metzler ME 880 on the rear and a fairly young Metzler on the front. The design of this bike is exceptional, and the detail is followed down to the retro, heavy key and minimalist instrument panel. With only slightly over 14,000 on the odometer, this BMW is barely broken in. The small passenger seat can also serve as a backrest for the driver. It comes with a number of accessories. Included are large BMW hardcases designed to match the style of the bike. Seriously, these things are ginormous (yes, that is a technical motorcycle term). The left side bag can hold a full face helmet. The left side is slightly larger than the right as the right bag has to accommodate the drive shaft. I could place a very full laptop bag in the left bag, rain gear in the right, and still have enough room for several bags of groceries on the ride home. For those who like to ride two-up, this bike will come with a "comfort seat" as well as an extension to move the backrest behind the passenger. In addition, it includes a number of other little odds and ends, including a BMW charger, a floor stand, and a BMW 18-inch windshield. Attached to the windshield is a (removable) Laminar Lip extension to help reduce buffeting for tall riders. Speaking of tall riders, BMW is not known for having a seat height that is comfortable for, shall we say, the vertically challenged. With a seat height of 29 inches, most riders can feel comfortable on this bike. The only flaw that should be pointed out is that there is a crack in the bezel that holds the rear taillight lens. This is very common on this bike, but it is not an easy or inexpensive fix. But this is a very minor flaw on an otherwise perfect bike. I have most of the service records, and it has been serviced at Capitol BMW since I've owned it. The bike is located in North Carolina, but I will work with the buyer to arrange local pickup or shipping anywhere in the US.
