LOW RESERVE-LOW RESERVE-LOW RESERVE-LOW RESERVE-LOW RESERVE-LO WE SELL WORLD WIDE! Another incredible histotic discovery: 1958 JAGUAR XK150 Coupe aka.: FHC (fixed head coupe) FOR YOUR INFORMATION: I'm listing this car for a good friend who's a licensed car dealer, specializing in rare, classic and unusual cars. He doesn't do eBay so I listed this for him. I have inspected the car to give you the best possible description. I am an automotive engineer and have 40 years of experience with classic & foreign automobiles. Read what I found below! TITLE INFORMATION: clear PA title in hand THE BACKGROUND: Here are little bits of history for the folks not so familiar with the Jaguar XK series. The Jaguar XK150 is a sports car produced by Jaguar between 1957 and 1961. It replaced the XK140. Initially it was available in Fixed Head Coupe (FHC) and Drop Head Coupe (DHC) versions. The Open Two Seater roadster (OTS) was not launched until 1958. Token rear seats were fitted in the coupe Jaguar XK150 1958 Jaguar XK150 Manufacturer Jaguar Cars Production 1957–1961 Assembly Coventry, England Predecessor Jaguar XK140 Successor Jaguar E-type Class Sports car Body style(s) 2-3 seater coupe 2-3 seater convertible 2 seater roadster Layout FR layout Engine(s) 3442 cc I6 3781 cc I6 Wheelbase 2,591 mm (102.0 in) Length 4,496 mm (177.0 in) Width 1,580 mm (62.2 in) Curb weight 2,968 lb (1,346 kg) Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernized. A one piece windscreen replaced the split screen, and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The bonnet was widened, opened down to the wings, and on the roadster the bulkhead was moved back 4 inches (102 mm) to make the bonnet longer. The car was available at various times in Red, Pearl Grey, White, Indigo Blue, Claret, Cotswold Blue, Black, Mist Grey, Sherwood Green, Carmen Red, British racing Green, Cornish grey and Imperial Maroon. In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by one trimmed in leather. On the early Drop Head Coupes, an aluminium centre dash panel with an X pattern engraving was fitted which looked similar to the early 3.8 E-type. It was discontinued after June 1958. Thinner doors gave more interior space The standard engine, the same as fitted to the XK140, was the 3.4 litre DOHC Jaguar straight-6 rated at 180 SAE bhp at 5750 rpm but most cars were fitted with the SE engine that had a modified cylinder head with larger exhaust valves rated at 210 SAE bhp at 5500 rpm. Twin 1.75-inch (44 mm) SU HD6 carburettors were fitted. While the first XK150 were slower than their predecessors, the deficit was corrected in the spring of 1958 with a 3.4-litre "S" engine with three 2-inch (51 mm) SU HD8 carburettors and a straight ported cylinder head giving a claimed 250 SAE bhp. For 1960, Jaguar bored its 3.4 to 3.8 litres, rating this option at 220 hp (164 kW; 223 PS) in standard tune or 265 hp (198 kW; 269 PS) "S" form. A 3.8 litre 150S could top 135 mph (217 km/h) and sprint from 0-60 mph in around 7.0 seconds, thus restoring whatever verve the XK had been missing. Four-wheel Dunlop 12 in (305 mm) disc brakes appeared for the first time although it was theoretically possible to order a car with drums. Either wire wheels or disc wheels could be specified. Suspension and chassis were very similar to that on the XK140. Steering was by rack and pinion; power steering was not offered. Production ended in October 1960, and totaled 2265 Roadsters, 4445 Fixed Head Coupes and 2672 Drop Head Coupe. It had a top speed of 132 mph (212 km/h) and could accelerate from 0–60 mph (97 km/h) in 7.8 seconds. A fuel consumption of 22.0 miles per imperial gallon (12.8 L/100 km; 18.3 mpg-US) was recorded. The test car cost £2110 including taxes of £623. It was at the time the fastest closed car the magazine had ever subjected to a full road test THE CONDITION: PLEASE NOTE: The mileage shown on the odometer may or may not be the original mileage, we simply don't know. Therefore, and in compliance with federal law for cars over 10 years old, the title will state 'EXEMPT FROM ODOMETER DISCLOSURE' Well, first of all, this car needs a total restoration as you can see! The car was hit in the rear, somewhen in the 60's and then stored indoors. It was later sold as a parts car and spent the following years outside. Other than the damage sustained in the crash, there are some bits and pieces missing. I'll get to that in a moment. It is important to understand that the car seems to be all original and that there were no repairs ever made. The build-tag is a bit hard to read but all numbers seem to mach (body #J9142, Engine #V-8519-8, trans#13451-15). I didn't check the trans number but I'm pretty sure it will match. As you can see in the pics, the hit was in the left rear and did a good amount of damage. The left rear frame rail was slightly kinked (see last picture!) but this will be an easy repair once the body is of the frame. The engine number does match and the motor does run. We put gas into the float bowls and got the car started. It ran for about 4 minutes and sounded good and healthy, with no smoke or noise in the motor! We didn't want to let her run any longer due to the missing radiator. The automatic transmission is present and the selector lever moves thru all positions but there was no way to test it because of the missing driveshaft. If the mileage is correct, which we sincerely belive is the case, there shouldn be anything wrong with the transmission or the differential. The differential, halfshafts and rear suspension are all there as well. The brakes are all there except for the left front caliper, but they will of course need a full overhaul. Wire wheels are straight but the chrome is done. The window glass is present and good in the doors and one quarter but the other side 1/4 glas is gone (we do have the frame!). The front and rear windows are also MIA. Spare tire is present, so is the (rusty) tank. Moving on to the interior, you might have noticed that the passengers seat bottom is missing. All the gauges and switches are there. As shown in the last pictures, there are a few parts that are off the car. The body is a little rough but the hood is great and the doors are fairly nice as well. The hood and doors are worth the reserve! The original wooden floors are gone but easy to replace. Again folks, this car is VERY RESTORABLE and well worth the effort! Since the saying goes, 'a picture tells more than a thousand words', I've included lots of them! Please pay attention, there's a lot of detail to be seen! Please remember, what you see is what you get! Please e-mail any and all questions you might have! I'll post the answers to the auction for everyone to see (so don't put your e-mail address or phone number in the message!) YOU ARE WELCOME TO INSPECT THE CAR RIGHT HER IN PLYMOUTH, PA (Luzerne County) Just let us know a day or 2 in advance! THE VERDICT: Considering the rarity of the XK150 with only 4445 ever produced, paired with the special collectability and the cult-like following, this Jaguar is a very worthy candidate for a full restoration! Here is a true opportunity, not only to buy a rare and very valuable automobile, but also to invest in an automotive 'blue chip'! Don't wait until she rolls past you on one of the 'big auctions' and someone is making a fortune on her! NOW is the TIME to buy!
