Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a RESTORED 1975 Honda ST-90 ! My work has gotten WAY too busy and we also have too many bikes. This ST-90 just ends up sitting around taking up space and has not been ridden more than 25 miles since the restoration - it’s time to thin the herd. I originally purchased this Honda ST-90 in early 2006 as a small, clean-up project to use as a pit bike. The bike was a very complete bike that ran and was in good overall condition. In the fall of 2006, after spending a few months accumulating various replacement parts, my small, “clean-up” project somehow grew into full-blown restoration (Don’t ask, it’s a whole different story). The entire restoration was performed by Two Sharks Racing located here in Kansas City, Missouri, who specialize in vintage motorcycle restorations. When the “smoke cleared”, the restoration took approximately six months. The cost of the restoration, combined with what I originally paid for the bike and all the parts is more than this motorcycle will ever be worth in my lifetime. I have the invoice for this restoration as well as the receipt for some of the parts – most of which I spent the time locating and purchased separately to save money. If something was even questionable - it was repaired and/or replaced with a new part. This ST-90 is hands down one of the nicest you will ever see. A few of the photos in this auction were taken at the mid-point of the restoration, so you can see how thorough the restoration was. Every effort was made to keep as many original parts on this ST-90 as possible - the frame, motor, seat hinge/seat-pan, fenders, wheels, forks, bars, fuel tank (cleaned), headlight assembly, speedometer/odometer, taillight assembly, tool-kit tube, handlebars and turn signals are all original. The list of things that were replaced is too long to list completely – but here are a few bigger items: rear shocks, front fork springs/seals, head set bearings, battery, rectifier module (updated version), entire correct decal set, both mirrors, brake lever, grips, tubes, tires, wheel bearings, cables, brake pads, chain, seat cover, spark plug and numerous fasteners. I purchased the upgraded shocks and springs for adult riders for the restoration –these are more expensive than the stock shocks and springs. I weigh about 220 pounds and it rides flat and smooth with no dives in turns or when the front brake is applied. The frame was completely stripped and repainted with “House Of Kolor” paint. It was primed with three coats of primer, three coats of the HOK orange and then three coats of clear – all wet sanded between coats. This paint job is phenomenal – show quality - and better than the Honda factory ever imagined. The decals were all professionally applied in the specific/correct factory locations. The exhaust pipe was also stripped and repainted in high-temp black. The wheels were unlaced, cleaned, polished with the hubs stripped, repainted and clear-coated – then relaced, trued and then balanced with the new wheel bearings, tubes and tires. The motor was gone through with a full, new gasket set, however the top-end was not rebuilt as it showed to be solid and the compression still showed to be very good. The lower end was completely rebuilt as there were a couple of questionable transmission gears which were replaced – it shifts clean and crisp as it should. I installed an LED taillight and two front LED turn signals as they are brighter this minimizes the draw on the 6V system. I just started and rode this bike earlier today – it runs strong and is mechanically correct, very solid with everything functioning as it should. Since I’ve owned it, this bike has been stored in a climate controlled garage in a non-smoking home. The mileage shown on the odometer (2888) is accurate to the best of my knowledge. I have not ridden this bike more than 25 miles since the restoration. I also have a clear title for this bike. There is one item needed that I did not have the time to track down, in order to make this bike a complete trophy winner ~ a factory tool kit. Not photographed, but included in this auction also includes an extra, brand new rear OEM Honda (45 tooth) sprocket, two Honda ST-90 manuals (one is a shop manual), the owner’s manual and an original sales brochure from 1975. NOTE: This Honda ST-90 motorcycle is “FOR SALE” NOT “ON SALE”. This motorcycle MUST be picked up locally from my residence – I will not ship it or make any preparations to ship it. Email if you have ANY questions about this motorcycle. If you want you can email me and I'll give you my cell phone number and would be glad to talk to you more about the bike.
