Vehicle Detail
I have restored a 1968 Toyota FJ40 LandCruiser. It has spent all of it's life, I was told in Eastern Washington. If you have ever been there it is a very dry climate. All Landcruisers up to September of 1973 were made with a much better quality of steel and are known not to rust out like the later years. It had no rust on frame or body. Which is very rare with these rust buckets. It has been removed completely off the frame to allow for quality work and cleaning done to it. All bolts there were rusted were replaced. The others that would turn cleanly were lubricated and place back in there original spot and coated with a rubber undercoating to help prevent rust. The tub was coated with a catalyzed product which prevents it from rusting out and limits scratches. It has a dual gas tank which is mounted underneath the tub and I believe it is a 15 gallon tank. I have flexible fuel line that is coming up from the bottom tank and is mounted to the sidewall on the passenger side, so when you are filling up the original tank which is located under the passenger seat you can open the door and fill the 2nd one. The fuel switch lever is located on the Drivers side down on the floor. You can see it in the pictures. Some of the dash switches were replaced but others were not. Only the ones that were broken. Paint color is the original Cacky Tan is the best way I can describe it. Wheels are painted a creme. They are not the stark white that looks so tacky. Spare tire is mounted on back but tire is not brand new like the other tires, about 30% tread. But good enough for a spare tire. Now to list the parts that were transferred from the later years to make it a FJ40 that has the best off all years in my opinion. 2F Engine, 4 Speed Manual Transmission, Front Disc Brakes and Rear Drum Brakes, Electronic Ignition. Tires are brand new. Speedo Cable was replaced since these so often fail on these. Transfer case was taken down and cleaned. All Rubber has been replaced and cracked or chipped windows have been replaced. This top is more rare than the normal 4 window top. Windows in rear fold out to allow for better ventilation to the passengers in rear. Please understand that you are getting a FJ40 that has been thought about carefully, not just slapped together. I took the original look into consideration but tweeked a few thing to update and tie the colors on the interior together better. (Like Door accents and Dash Gauges and Glove box.) Those are normally supposed to be grey. Please take not that I have the right to end the auction at any time if someone else contacts me and just wants to buy it instead of waiting for the auction. This is how I have sold most of my vehicles I have restored. Take note that on the pics of the FJ40 with no top on you will see a few dash switches missing and passenger sun visor not installed yet and the wires leading to the windshield motor are hanging. These pics were taken before it was 100% complete. If you don't have a detailed eye than you probably would not have noticed. Please call Chris @ 406-270-4173 if you have any questions. I would be glad to help in anyway that I can. Thanks for looking.
