This is a 1981 Mercedez-Benz 300SD TurboDiesel. 1981 is the first year of the famed W126 series, its famed because of its reliability and longevity. This is one of the most reliable cars I have ever owned. I have had her for almost 10 years and she has never once failed me. There are 135600 original miles on the car and if you are familiar with Mercedes diesels she is just broken in. This 300SD boasts the bullet proof 5-cylinder motor build with a cast iron block and cast iron heads. This is one of the reasons for the cars historical longevity. This car was put into service on June 30, 1981 where it was originally sold in Southern California at Jim Slemons Imports, now known as Fletcher Jones Mercedes-Benz. This is a no rust California car that will bring you 25+ MPG. This car is being relisted due to a previous negligent winning bidder. ONLY bid on this car if you intend to buy this car; not doing so causes undo financial burden for both the buyer and seller. Additionally it ruins the spirit of the auction process. All of the hoses on the motor and transmission were replaced a few years ago and the transmission was completely rebuilt about 31/2 years ago because my son and I were going to make her a project car but he has since decided he wants a truck. I've not registered her since then because of the cost of insuring my 4 other cars but she has been regularly run. A conservative estimate is that approximately 2000 miles have been put on the car since the rebuild of the transmission. The oil and filters were changed in preparation for the sale, the A/C blows cold and heat blows warm, the tires are good, approximately 80% tread remaining and there are no electrical issues. What needs attention is the paint, the sunroof is not reliable, and the passengers front window currently does not work (see photo). I do have the switch for this window and this is included with the car. The rubber around the windshield and back window needs replacing as does the windshield due to cracks. The antenna is in the trunk and needs to be remounted. The MB Tex is in good condition except a small hole in the drivers seat (see photo) and the headliner has a small tear near the sunroof opening and is sagging at the back interior light and rear passenger courtesy light (see photo). Since the transmission is newly rebuilt, adjustments are recommended to dial her in. Included with the sale of the car are all the original Mercedes-Benz documents and manuals (see photo), the tool kit (see photo), and I even have the original sales brochure (see photos). I am listing this car as a no reserve auction. This way the buyer gets to determine the value. So if your looking for an inexpensive and reliable daily driver or if your looking for a solid start to a classic Mercedes project car, stay on top of this auction. I have taken the time to carefully describe the vehicle and I have included a substantial number of photographs. I have to the best of my knowledge reported the vehicles history and any and all known issues. The entire risk as to the condition of the vehicle is on the buyer. Shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer but I will work with the buyer or his/her transportation company to get the car delivered.
