Vehicle Detail
Item Description This is not really a "restored" VW bus, but it looks great and runs perfectly. It's been maintained and kept original with correct VW parts. Everything (e.g. the electrical system, steering, brakes, engine, transmission, clutch, starter, locks and keys, doors and windows, etc.) works well. The bus is solid, straight, and runs well. The 2 Liter flat engine allows the bus to keep up on the freeway. The bus is the California model and has been smogged repeatedly. Importantly, the bus got a new clutch and rebuilt engine 8,000 miles ago ($2,769.50), so that it has many, many miles left to go. The windshield and the tires (white walls) are also new (2,000 miles). The camper also has fresh paint, a fresh header and fresh front seats (tuck and roll). The camper features 3 configurations: 1: on the road: back seat with cushions 2: sleeping: flat bed (6'4" long) 3: dining: table with seats for 2. Both front seats also swivel backwards (see photos), and there is a sink, fridge, (blue ice), drawer, magazine rack and 2 storage compartments. There are (very) minor dings, etc. commensurate with the age of the vehicle and the fabric facing the rear window is sun burned across an area 2" x 30". It can be trimmed and tacked. Also, under the front window rubber seal there is a rusted-out area where the seal had leaked. This area (now completely dry because of a good seal) is mainly under the rubber window seal, but 3/16" of it is visible in front of the seal. It is presently covered with black adhesive tape, which works well. Re-taping may be required every couple of years. Also included are curtains (yellow), Owner's Manual, John Muir's Service Manual, Receipts from 1991 on, Jumper Cables, Steering Lock, Extra Belt, Cables, Plugs and Parts, an Atlas, the Original Jack, Tools and more. There is no reserve. Questions? Please call me at 1-575-682-3700. The reason I'm selling this vehicle is that I have a VW camper/bus which has 468,000 miles on it and I expect it to go many more. Ready to hit the road - had a tune-up, oil change, lube, new tires, new windshield a few months ago so our daughter and her two friends from Canada could take a road trip from New Mexico to points east. Mileage listed is the odometer reading. There are no surprised with this camper. When you see it, you'll like it; when you listen to it, you'll like it, and when you drive it, you'll be happy, knowing that it's the one you've been looking for. The vehicle is located in the mountains of Southern New Mexico, a beautiful area for summer camping, so you can start camping right after buying it if you like. On Jun-11-10 at 15:47:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Here are a couple of corrections for mistakes which I can't change in the original text now: 1: There IS a reserve. The sentence in the main description saying that there isn't one is a mistake. Sorry. 2: I checked "CD player" by mistake, thinking that there was one built in, but I guess not. There is an AM/FM radio (working) with a cassette tape player, though, and relatively new speakers installed on the doors. You can attach a special tape to a CD player, I think, and listen through the speakers that way. The camper is being sold "as is" and "where it is". The initial deposit of $500 should be through PayPal, please. The remainder is to be paid in cash when the camper is picked up, please. Thanks.
