Vehicle Detail
Very original and solid 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Convertible. This car is largely original and very well kept from new but has been repainted. The is an authentic 500XL (the high line model for 1965) with its original correct 260 horsepower 352 V-8 engine. The car is a factory console car with bucket seats. It also has an extremely rare original AM/FM radio. It is a power steering car with automatic transmission, variable speed wipers and its original power convertible top which goes up and down perfectly. The exterior is completely original and entirely rust free with no rust repair or bondo anywhere. It has been given a decent quality paint job within the past two years and is otherwise original and unmolested. The glass is all original and very good throughout. The windows roll up and down well with no effort. The trim and chrome is largely very good original. The Galaxie badge on the front side is missing, however. The interior is very nice and completely original. The original vinyl material is in good shape. The original carpeting is also in good shape and is protected by the non OEM rubber floor mats that can be seen in the photographs. All of the switches and instruments work well including the gas gauge. The headlight switch knob is the only missing piece of instrumentation (the switch works fine). Inside the glove compartment are the original service manual and owners handbook for THIS car. The convertible top is a decent original white top. The mechanism works like brand new effortlessly raising and lowering the top. The original boot is also with the car and fits very nicely but has stains but no tears. The floors are all original and very solid with not a hint of rust or rust repair anywhere. The trunk floor is also original and excellent. The tires are brand new and the hub caps are correct originals. The engine bay is very tidy with the correct washer fluid bag still there after all these years. The engine is very tight...does not burn oil or leak any fluids. The car starts easily and can smoke the tires. I lit up the old set prior to replacing them and they spun for quite some time. Overall the car is a decent #3 condition solid driver. If you are looking for a show car, please go on to the next car. If you are looking for a parts or a restoration car, please go onto the next car. This is a great summer driver that is well sorted and very reliable. Buy it, register it and drive it. Car is a Connecticut car and comes with a notarized dealer bill of sale. Connecticut does not title cars built prior to 1981.
