Vehicle Detail
This is a 1965 AMC Rambler Marlin. It is equipped with a 270 horsepower AMC 327 cubic inch engine, 4 barrel carb. It has an automatic transmission as well, with factory air conditioning. This is most likely going to be a parts car for someone doing a restoration, but someone with enough time could definitely restore this one . The rambler was found in a garage that had the roof caved in, the windows were down on the car and it has sat since 1973. You can see the last registration tag on the license plate and the last inspection sticker on the window. I was able to pop the trunk and found a 1973 newspaper in it. So the thing has been sitting for 37 years. The floor is completely rusted out, the interior is very rough as well. I did hook a battery to it, but since i didn't have a key i didn't try to start it. However the clock on the dash was actually working! If i get some time this week i am going to try to jump the starter solenoid/coil and see if i can get it to start, no guarantees though. The right front and the left rear wheels are locked up, it's the hubs/brakes i'm pretty sure. If i sat in one spot for 37 years id have some issues too. All the glass and trim are good on the car, and the exterior metal is actually in pretty good shape, it's just the interior and floor that are really bad. I am selling this as a parts car, however i think it could be restored, it's not a total loss. I do not have a title for this car, that is why it's being sold as a parts car. You can probably get a title for it with a bill of sale, depends on your state. Bidding starts at $300, (about what i'd get at the scrap yard). No reserve on this.. If you are restoring a Marlin then this would be a no brainer. Good luck!On Jun-02-10 at 20:08:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Car also has the original AM/FM radio. Which i am told is pretty rare.On Jun-06-10 at 14:50:12 PDT, seller added the following information: This is a reminder! As mentioned in the description, this car DOES NOT move freely. at least 2 of the wheels are locked up on the car. If you are picking this car up with a commercial car hauling company you might want to mention that to them. Or if you are bringing your own personal trailer, you might need a winch to get it on the trailer. (we might be able to assist you in this). I've also been getting questions about the frame. I am not 100% sure about the frame condition. I believe this car is a unibody style construction, and as noted in the description the floors are rusted out. This may have gotten into the frame. From the outside it looks okay, but i cannot guarantee the condition. (as i stated in the description, i am selling this as a parts car, if this car didn't sell on ebay I was going to take some things off and haul it to the scrap yard.)On Jun-07-10 at 08:23:41 PDT, seller added the following information: ****UPDATE**** Today we tried to see if the engine would turn over with a breaker bar on the crank pulley, The engine would NOT turn over. We didn't crank on it too hard because we didn't want to break the bolt off in the crankshaft. It would probably turn over if someone removed all the spark plugs and put some penetrating oil in the cylinders. I think it's just tight from sitting so long. The A/C clutch on the compressor is spinning freely.
