Vehicle Detail
I bought this car two years ago with the intent to do a complete frame off restoration. The previous owner at one time had two MGA’s, a 1962, and a 1959. The ’62 was parted out (I still have the title and data tags for the '62 also, just no body), and the '59 was set aside for restoration. The ‘59 was partially disassembled approximately twenty years ago by the previous owner. The body was disassembled and stripped to the bare metal and stored in a garage for eighteen years while parts were accumulated for restoration. When I bought the car, it was a rolling body with all of the suspension still in tact. I finished taking the car apart and had the frame sandblasted and sprayed with an epoxy primer. All of the suspension is here along with the front lever-action style shocks that appear to be in good working order. The basic shell of the car, like the frame has been completely stripped and painted with an epoxy primer. I have two sets of front fenders, three hoods, two rear deck lids, a pair of doors, spare right side door, and a pair of rear fenders. While all of the body panels will require some bodywork before painting, none of them are rusted or dented beyond repair. All of the body panels that I woudl use for the car were stripped 20 years ago, so it's easy to see what you have to work with. The only rust that I have found on any of the body panels is on the bottom of the left front fender, and it is easily repairable. There are more parts than I ever imagined could come with a car this size. This is a partial list of what I have that came with the car: I have two assembled motors – one 1500, and one 1600 I have a third complete but disassembled motor. This one is a 1600. I also have a spare 1800 block and a few miscellaneous 1800 parts. I have three transmissions. There are boxes of all kinds of original parts. There are also many new parts that were purchased for the restoration. I am sure that I will leave out something that I have with the car, but some of the parts include new: Windshield, side curtains, exhaust, front and rear bumpers, grille, wiring harness, seat covers, miscellaneous chrome parts I have two sets of carburetors, a rebuilt brake and clutch pedal assembly, rebuilt heater box, and a second set of seats. One pair of seats already has new tan seat covers installed by the previous owner. There are a lot of extra parts here, and after completeing the restoration, a considerable amount of the cost can be recovered by selling the extra unused parts. I just do not have the time to complete this project in the near future, and would like to get it out of my way.On Jun-01-10 at 22:36:02 PDT, seller added the following information: I went through the boxes of parts that I have to refresh my memory as to what all is there. I added a couple of pictures of some of the items that I have that are new, they include new: Headlight bezels vent grilles 1600 MK II emblems gaskets for parking lights and tail lights steering wheel centers body plugs and grommets bumper over riders for front and rear new interior panels including door panels, front kick panels, front frame covers, door pockets, rear quarter panels, leather for door tops and cockpit trim rails, screws and trim washers On Jun-02-10 at 08:29:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to add 2 convertible top frames, and a set of new side curtains to the list of parts. I am adding a link to some additional pictures of parts that are with the car. If you have questions about anything that you do not see in the pictures, ask and I will see if I can get you more info. On Jun-04-10 at 19:07:17 PDT, seller added the following information: I have been asked several times which wheels the car has. It has the disc wheels. I have a set of four disc wheels and hubcaps, but one of the wheels is bent and will likely have to be replaced. I have also been asked about front spindles and brake drums and rear differential and housing and springs. All of these parts are here and included, I just missed getting them in the pictures and the description.
