Vehicle Detail
2001 Mercedes-Benz SL 500 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Up for your consideration is my 2001 Mercedes-Benz SL500 in Brilliant Silver over Ash Grey leather. This car comes fully loaded with both the SL1 and SL2 option packages. The SL1 package entails the AMG Sport package with AMG bodywork and 18” alloy AMG rims. The SL2 package includes heated front seats, 6-disc trunk mounted CD changer, and Xenon headlights. The original MSRP on this car was $86,305. This car has all the usual Mercedes-Benz standard features, including the fully-removable steel hardtop for cooler driving and security. I also have a garage hardtop stand and hardtop cover, which will go with car, as well. This car is a two owner Texas car, so that means it has never been driven in winter weather. The original owner was from the San Antonio area, and now the car is in Dallas. The car has been garaged its entire life, and it shows because the paint on this car is absolutely beautiful. This is an accident free car. The only paint imperfection is minor scraping on the passenger side rear bumper area. I attempted to take a photo of the area, but it is so faint, you have to be within a foot of the car to see it. There is also a minor nick in the pain close to the hardtop pin holes from setting the hardtop down too soon. Again, it is very minor, and extremely common on these vehicles. The soft top is in good condition with only two minor imperfections (see photos). The rear plastic window was replaced in Spring of 2008. It is still in excellent shape. The power top mechanisms work flawlessly on this car. The hardtop is clean and secures to the car tightly. The interior of the car is in excellent condition, overall. The only minor flaw would be the normal wear and tear to the driver’s seat bolster from getting in and out of the car. The driver’s side air vent blows the air (heat and A/C), but the directional controls are broken. The carpet is in very good shape, as are the OEM floormats. The wood trim shows very well with no splitting or cracking. Also included with the sale of the car is the original owner’s manual, both flip keys, and the radio codes. The car currently has 56,100 miles, and may go up to approximately 56,500 by the time the auction closes, as the car is still being driven a few times a week. Since purchasing the car with 43,600 in October 2007, this car has been meticulously maintained by a reputable local Mercedes-Benz mechanic. In addition to the routine oil changes with fully synthetic oil, the car received new front brake discs and pads in 12/2008. Also, a leaking oil level sender and steering shock were replaced at that time. In 2/09, the car received an upgrade to the DAS (drive authorization system) for key authorization signals. In 3/10, the car received new sunvisor covers due to them snapping off ($428). In 4/10, the car’s air mass meter and ERG valve were replaced. This car has always passed the stringent Texas emissions/safety inspection with no problems. This car was purchased by me from my local Carmax. In addition to the purchase, I did buy an extended warranty for 36 months/36,000 additional miles. This warranty is transferrable to a new owner within 30 days of the sale for $30.00. Coverage ceases on 11/5/2010 or 79,667 miles. This is a truly beautiful automobile, and I do hate to sell it. However, I am heading to Graduate School, so I need to free up some money. If you are in the Dallas area and wish to see the car, please email me at your convenience. I am willing to work with any shipping company, but it is of course at the buyer's expense. If you have any questions about anything specifically, please let me know, as I have done my best to describe this car.Additional photos can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/31103217@N04/ Enjoy the photos and Good Luck!
