Up for auction for the first time on Ebay... Rare opportunity to purchase a factory original 1973 BMW 3.0 CSL lightweight coupe. If you are reading this ad then you probably know about how rare this car is. Basically a barn find. This car had been sitting for 20 years before going through a restoration in 2008. Lovingly owned and cared for by a BMW classic collector from Southern California. The car was very well preserved and can be called a survivor. In 1988 it previously incurred minor damage to the right rear quarter panel. Title was salvaged due to insurance reasons. An expert body repair was done to the highest standards. There are no visual signs of any damage if you see the quarter panel. Its as if nothing happened there. It still wears its original sheet metal and has no replaced body panels. The fit and finish is perfect. Its body is free of rust and corrosion which is the key issue with buying an E9 coupe these days. This car is show quality and needs nothing. CSL coupes are ultra rare and seldom offered for sale. Prices are steadily climbing past the $100-120k mark. CSL coupes are in a league of their own. A 3.0CSL is a lightweight version of the original coupe, with aluminum doors, hood, and trunk, as well as thinner steel for the rest of the body, manual steering, plexiglass windows, no bumpers, and a special interior. All these factors made the original CSLs weigh in at barely 2500lbs. However, since most customers didn't want a $10k new car without these things, most CSLs have what is known as the "city pack", which includes just about everything that was removed, but keeps the aluminum trunk and hood, as well as the interior. Even with everything added again, the "city pack" CSL weighs in at about 2800lbs. Here is a rundown on the condition of the car: Exterior- Paint is very glossy and shiny. Chrome is bright and shiny with no pitting. Body is straight. Glass is all excellent with no chips in windshield. No dings on body. No rust anywhere. PERIOD. The normal rust prone areas are excellent and rust free (shock towers, rockers, spare tire well, lower doors, etc). Interior- Seats and carpet are excellent. No tears or rips. No dash cracks. No weird smells. Wood trim in excellent condition. Headliner is clean and problem free. Mechanical- Engine and transmission are excellent. Please see youtube video to hear motor run. No leaks at all. Clutch is excellent. Transmission was upgraded to 5 speed manual. Each gear shifts flawlessly and smoothly. Tool kit case is perfect but missing tools. Case was removed to prevent any damage to trunk lining. It can be reinstalled easily. Overall- A fine example of a well sorted CSL from California. Body and mechanical are excellent and problem free. This car needs no repairs and can be driven anywhere with confidence. Bidding- Less than 10 feedback bidders please contact me prior to bidding with an email and phone number.
