THIS CAR WILL BE SOLD TO HIGHEST BIDDER.. **(THERE IS NO RESERVE)** **PLEASE READ ENTIRELY BEFORE BIDDING** 1931 FORD MODEL A COUPE (5 Window) with RUMBLE SEAT. **WITH VIDEO OF ENGINE CRANKING OVER!!** This a 1931 Model A Coupe with rumble seat, and manual transmission. I believe it's a 3 speed, and 4 cylinders since I see 4 spark plugs-duh...(not sure of engine size though). It's CURRENT IN TAGS and CALIFORNIA REGISTRATION valid until 8/2010... Now for the history... It was originally bought from my father in June of 1984(see photo/scan) from the showroom of a car dealership known as "Circle City Tires and Auto, 670 E. Sixth Street. Corona, California"(as you can see in the pics they painted/advertised on the door panels). My father was a lawyer and paid top dollar for it back then. EVERYTHING is AMAZINGLY upholstered inside the car(please see pics of interior and rumble seat). As you will see in the pics, only the top inch or so of each door isn't, along with a couple of inches around the windshield and columns... I believe even the floor of the rumble seat has been restored. However since then, it's basicly just sat jacked up and FULLY covered in his California garage for the past 26 years!! I just recently inherited 3 automobiles from him, and unfortunately I've decided this one needs to go. It's too complicated for me to figure out with throttle/spark advance lever etc... Besides, I love the 1968 Porsche 911 and the 1978 (25th Anniversary) Corvette instead(hee hee)... I have included a copy of the earliest change of ownership from dealer to my father(26 years ago), along with the CURRENT California registration and a copy of the California title, Truthfully indicating I inherited and am now sole owner of this car as of Feb/March 2010..(see scan/picture below..Yes, some personal items were computer "blocked out", but of course, the winner of this auction will receive the undamaged/unmarked real, deal paperwork).... Anyways, I don't have the room for this car. I am a father of 3 children with 3 cars and a motorcycle to boot already!!! So as of right now (May 2010, I currently have SIX cars and a motorcycle)... Thus, my wife says SOMETHING needs to go!!!! So, sadly i decided this is it.... Well, again as you see the pics, the car is SUPER CLEAN inside AND out.. It's in NO WAY A SHOWROOM car, but perhaps possibly, the BEST DAMN LOOKING & RUNNING, 1931 MODEL A FORD YOU WILL GET YOUR HANDS ON!! After 26 years of storage, plus the actual date of paint, there are a few chips here and there in the paint (especially on the hood hinges, at the bottom left fender below the license plate, and around the gas filler cap). Before taking the pics, I called a company who came to my residence, and had the car hand clayed, glazed, waxed, reglazed and waxed till the paint and chrome came out looking as new as possible, yes it cost me some money, but heck was it worth it!!..The result is absolutely STUNNING!!!! After years and years of sitting and collecting dust, the car shines like new.. I AM TRUELY AMAZED!!! Now, upon further inspection, I did notice a strip of "orange peeling"(at the very bottomest of the front passenger side. It's the smallest section located between the door and left engine hood). Yes, there are a few parts that will need replacing/repairing, like a new rooftop liner if you decide (I just put black, "Gorilla" brand duct tape on the long, front damage rip). You will definitely need 2 brackets to support the center rear chrome bumper, plus a missing ford badge on the drivers' center footwell, another chrome center cap for the center spare rim(but not sure if the spare originaly came with a chrome center cap anyways). IS THIS A MODEL A DELUXE???(I DON'T KNOW)!! But, I have noticed MANY Model A's have the spare mounted on the rear of the car. This 1931 Model A, has the spare mounted inside of the drivers' front fender. I have taken pictures of the spare both on and off the vehicle(please see pics). I believe this allowed for a luggage rack to be installed on the rear section of this Model A. I could swear as a child, I remember seeing a black, square frame section that allowed for luggage to be mounted/strapped onto it on the rear bumper, but ever since the rear bumper broke(not sure when that happened) unfortunately, I couldn't find it inside my Fathers' garage... In addition, I'm sure an expert on Model A's will know what else will be needed to bring it closer to "Daily Driver or Show" condition... You should purchase a new water hose since, I noticed some coolant dripping from the front of the engine area somewhere (I assume that is where the leak is BUT I AM NOT SURE), after I started and left the engine running for a couple of minutes to make the videos to prove it starts, and engine continues to maintain running... Also there are 6 small, drilled holes on the front of the passenger door 2 on the top, and 4 on the bottom( I assume for a mirror or ????--please see pic) Interior wise, I think just stitching/fixing the 2 broken buttons(which I do have) and some TLC to steam/upholstery clean any water stains on the bottom rumble seat and you should be like new, LITERALLY!! After just sitting in his garage for 26 years, then having it towed to my house in UPLAND, California, I went and bought a new battery, hooked it up to a 6 volt charger and put 2 gallons of gas in it, with nothing else done, and to my astonishment it cranked over!!! I have included a link on "YOU TUBE" (if e-bay will allow it, or you can e-mail me and I will e-mail you the link back), to the 2 videos I have of this car cranking over. I NEVER, EVER learned how to start a car like this. I actually had to go on "YOUTUBE" myself, just to watch other people cranking/starting one up!!!! I have included as many pics as E-bay will permit, and will include links to the 2 videos I placed on "YouTube" of me cranking and having the engine running... This is a GREAT-LOOKING car and it shows!!! The interior is AWESOME, and the paint and chrome are great!!! Granted, there are I believe 2 buttons broken at their bottoms, belonging to the interior seats, but I have them so they should be ok to replace somehow. I believe everything works, all doors and windows (including front window) open and close/roll up. However, I couldn't get the front headlights to go on (just the 2 little side ones, and rear tail light/license plate light). I'm not sure if the Huge headlights only go on if you put the transmission in 1st, etc... and start to drive, but I never drove the car past the driveway to find out, or if there is another switch somewhere to put those on???... The horn works, wiper works, and to the best of my knowledge, the gauges are new and working(for sure the amp meter and gas gauge do). I was told speedometer/odometer works, but didn't risk driving the car around the city with my 3 kids just in case something went wrong. It's not like I could be jumped from another 6 Volt car coming by, my luck would be better winning the lotto...Besides, there was still some very little old gas, and AT LEAST 26 year old spark plugs, coolant, motor oil, etc.... in the car, so I really didn't want to harm the engine nor carburator...Carburator must be awesome(and dirty, since I don't even know how to open it), but works!! I just wanted to video the fact the car is in running condition, despite all the old fluids still inside-AMAZING!!!! In addition, the speedometer currently reads either 9 miles, or 9/10ths of a mile on it(its the last number and it's red), but we all know that can't be right.. The oldest scan paperwork I have is from 1984 and the DMV and the car at 9,001 mile on it (whether that was original miles back in 1984 or not who knows)... Also (see pic below), there are 2 NEVER INSTALLED Boots. One for the bottom interior of the brake handle, and one for the bottom of the interior clutch/shifter. Also, a new chrome, exterior door handle with keys, and a new inner tube(not pictured). There are other parts in the picture like a weather strip, and various metal parts for which I have no idea where they should go onto the car, but will all be shipped inside the car in a box, along with the chrome bumper and any other parts I may find from now till the day of shipment of car to you. Currently, there are 3 keys to the car. One is for the ignition, the other 2 keys I would assume are for the doors or rumble seat?? Before bidding, I URGE you to Take a look at the 2 videos, and the many pics and YOU decide how much it's worth, it's an auction so highest bidder wins!!! If you have ANY questions, just ask away, I will try to answer them as quickly as a working father of 3 children can :o) But will reply, just may take a day or so, so please be patient, as I can't be on the computer all the time, as my wife is in administration and travels ALL THE TIME, in fact, she is in Texas while this auction will be going on.. ANYWAYS, Here are the videos of the car starting/running: (E-bay personnel, these videos are MINE. I Took them myself, and own the rights to them. They are viable information in relationship to the sale of this item so PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE)... Video#1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dI8mbAwaSGY Video#2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgrvCFBK5OI (If you noticed in the 2nd video you quickly see my 2 porsches already hogging up the garage..So, I don't deal with crap, and this Model A is FAR FROM THAT). I just wish I had a bigger garage (or another home for that matter)!!! As I mentioned earlier, I also inherited a 1968 Porsche 911 and a 1978 Corvette as well. The corvette is being stored behind the "RV gate", as was another car. And this 1931 FORD MODEL A, simply DOES not belong on a driveway alongside a Toyota Camry, getting water spots from my sprinklers!!!! THIS CAR DESERVES, I REPEAT DESERVES TO BE STORED INSIDE EITHER A GARAGE/SHOWROOM/OR MUSEUM!! ****************************************************************** I WILL NOT ACCEPT A "PAYPAL" DEPOSIT NOR FULL PAYMENT ON THIS VEHICLE. ***A NON-REFUNDABLE $1,000 deposit in ONLY the form of **MONEY ORDER/CASHIERS CHECK,** will be required immediately thru priority mail within 5 Business days from the end of auction so I know you are serious about fulfilling your commintment... THE BALANCE OF THE FULL PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED TO ME WITHIN 14 DAYS from the end of AUCTION,-PERIOD. If either of these scenarios occur and commitment is not met, I will report you as a non-payer, and simply relist the auction IMMEDIATELY!! (Or contact me if you need payment plan, I'm sure my lawyers and I can draft up a copy of sale under some conditions if you need some more time to pay, just contact me BEFORE bidding if this is a case for you).... CASH and local pick up is preferred, as time won't be as wasted....I can also deliver within 100 miles from Upland, CA. for $100.00(assuming U-haul's prices haven't gone up). I can deliver to you or to the nearest Auto Transporter YOU have arranged(again within 100 miles).. **MONEY ORDERS and CASHIERS CHECK** are preferred, but with the ever growing of fraud, I must wait at least 5 business days to make sure the payment IS NOT FRAUD or self produced(sorry). In addition, I WILL HONOR & ACCEPT A PERSONAL CHECK, but then I will wait a MINIMUM of 14 business days for it to clear, before I even attempt to transfer this car title.. I WILL SHIP OUTSIDE CALIFORNIA, BUT NOT OUTSIDE the 48 CONTINENTAL STATES OF U.S.A. (In other words, I will not ship to Alaska or Hawaii or to another country). ***THE BUYER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE TO PAY ALL SHIPPING COSTS and MAKE ALL ARRANGEMENTS IF I NEED TO DROP OFF AT A LOCATION SPOT WHERE A THIRD PARTY WILL BURDEN THE RESPONSIBILITY OF GETTING THE CAR TO YOU. Once the shipping company has verified I am still owner of the car, and they are now in possession of the car, my Insurance will be cancelled IMMEDIATELY, and the car title plus registration will be sent to you seperately, via UPS next day air delivery. (So, please arrange for, or opt for insurance from the car transporter, as I will not be responsible for damage/theft/loss/or any other natural event or damage from "God or supernatural event")*** (NOW, SINCE I HAVE LAWYERS IN THE FAMILY I MUST DISCLOSE THE FOLLOWING): THIS IS IN NO DOUBT, A GREAT LOOKING and RUNNING VEHICLE. YOU ALMOST HAVE TO DO NOTHING EXCEPT REPLACE ALL FLUIDS AND HAVE THE COOLANT HOSE/LEAK REPLACED.. HOWEVER, I MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT: THIS CAR IS BEING SOLD "AS IS"-PERIOD. I PRIDE MYSELF OF BEING A NICE, HONEST, AND TRUTHFULL MAN. (MY FEEDBACK SPEAKS FOR ITSELF). BY PLACING A BID, YOU, AS A BUYER, AGREE TO PURCHASE THIS CAR "AS IS". SO, IF YOU HAVE ANY HESITATION THEN SIMPLY JUST DON'T BID!!! PIECE OF MIND IS PRICELESS!! Thanks for taking a glance at my auction, and may luck be on your side and you win this Classic, Beautiful and rare "stock condition" car!!! (P.S. I will follow up with more pics if necessary or add a better video link later if need be)... THANKS AGAIN.On May-20-10 at 17:55:56 PDT, seller added the following information: My lawyers, noticed a small technicality mistake, after reviewing the description of auction payment instructions: This following line is error: I WILL NOT ACCEPT A "PAYPAL" DEPOSIT NOR FULL PAYMENT ON THIS VEHICLE. Instead, the line should read: I WILL NOT ACCEPT A "PAYPAL" DEPOSIT NOR FULL PAYMENT/BALANCE THRU PAYPAL, or Have any dealings with PAYPAL.. Sorry for my mistake in wording, of course I will accept full payment on this vehicle, just not thru PAYPAL :o)
