Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is this very nice example of a original 1970 Corvette Roadster. This is a low mileage unrestored time capsule 70 Stingray. Powerful numbers matching 350 motor and original M-21 4 speed in good working order. All dealer paperwork from the day of purchase is included with the sale of this automobile. This Stingray has new - tires, heater core, clutch, carpet, brakes, convertible top and one repaint (code correct). The only option is the working AM/FM radio. This car has been the occasional Sunday driver thats survived for 40 years in the same family... Purchased new August, 8 1970 from Bill Zikakis Chevytown of Ithaca NY by USAF fighter pilot Thomas Kennedy for $5221.30. Immediately after the cars purchase he was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama then was sent to Tempe Arizona where he stored the car for several years during his fighter pilot training. Eventually he would be sent abroad to serve and gave the car to his kid brother in Southern California (who was with him at the dealership in NY the day his brother bought it) The Corvette has remaind in California, garaged kept under a cloth cover well looked after for the last 30 plus years. I was lucky enough to meet the owner and purchase the car from him recently. The car really needs nothing and is in very good condition for its age both in looks and performance. I am in no way a Corvette expert and believe everything the original owner told me including that nothings had been changed from the manufacturer. I did verify the engine numbers and had the transmission shop who serviced the clutch check the transmission which they assured me to be the original transmission to the car..... they pointed out the clutch was likely the original from 1970. They also inspected the transmission and reported it was the "newest looking forty year old transmission they we have ever seen". The wipers are not working right now likely caused by a faulty diaphram in the actuator as there is plenty of vacum present to run the headlights. The odometer froze up on the way back from the transmission shop last week at just under 52k so I will sell the car as mileage unknown (Looks like the trip indicator is causing it to bind up?) . The seat covers are original and have hardened up so there is some seperating at the main seam on the lower part of the seats. Other then these few small decisions to be made the new owner will have plenty of drive time without issue ahead of them. I would Love to keep this car.... the amazing value of the older Stingrays have proven themselves as top quality investment's (and this low production 70 roadster WILL surely follow) but I really have no room to "block and cover it" in the back of the shop unfortunately. This is rare chance to get a true keeper for yourself, bid with confidence. This is a no reserve auction bid to own.
