Vehicle Detail

One project too many!!!! «No reserve and going to a good home«. I found this Fiat 124 spider in a yard in southern California under four car covers and rescued it about 4 years ago and the car has been stored inside ever since. The previous owner told me that it had been sitting in that spot since 1991 or 92. I love cars and when I saw this one I thought my son now 16 would love to drive it, but this is not the case. Like so many of us with 1 too many projects, it has come time to decide to fix it up or invest in other projects. I have decided to let this one go to a better home. I know there is a big Fiat community out there and someone will give this car the love it needs. Thank you to all of the Fiat people with all of the e mails! it turns out the car is a 1968, the first year of the 124 Spider and this car is #264 built. The car is fun to drive and runs pretty good. If I were going to keep it, because of it's year you can do anything to the engine you would like to, so I would replace the carb with a new webber. I rebuilt the one that is on the car, but it needs some of the diaphragms that did not come in the rebuild kit to make it perfect. I also put a brand new gas tank, fuel pump, fuel filter and rubber fuel hoses into the car. I also had the radiator rebuilt with a new core and repaired the over flow tank and replaced some hoses. A new water pump and thermostat was installed at the same time A set of new spark plugs and plug wires were also installed The car had new tires put on it in 1991, but because it has been sitting since then the right side two will not hold air any more and they are looking dry rotted. I am not really sure of the year, because the person that I bought it from lost the pink slip, so if you are a Fiat Fan and can help me identify the year correctly please help. The only numbers I can find under the hood are, Fiat 124ASê0005883 The car has a little rust on the inside of the hood and also the floor boards where your feet go but nothing bad. I unbolted the seats to get a good clean out with the shop-vac. The drivers seat will need to be fixed or replaced, because the car is a convertible the seat stayed wet and the seat bottom has rotted, but the parts are availible no problem. The car does not appear to ever been in an accident and is surprisingly straight for it's age. I Pulled off the left lower rocker panel by request to take a look and no rust there, the car is solid and a true California Classic and a fun Car to drive. I have put over $850.00 in parts into this car, plus labor and would like to try to recover the cost of parts, if I am able, my labor I will have to donate. I'm obviously not a Fiat Guy and I may have some of the infomation wrong, and all of the Fiat people are trying to help, but now I have conflicting information from them as well, so I will try to update the auction has soon as I get some clarity. My loss is your gain, the car will come with a bill of sale and the registration will be the buyers responsibility! The car will need to be moved via trailer or tow truck. If you are looking for a fun project this is it!!!! Good luck!!
