THE CAR 1993 Mazda RX-7 R-1 in Competition Yellow Mica Metallic Paint with Black Suede Interior HISTORY I purchased this car for my personal use in December, 1998 at the Manheim Car Auction in Manheim ,Pa. At the time it had 53,084 miles and was bone stock. It had recently been traded in on a new Porsche and was being wholesaled at the auction by Adcock Brothers. After I got the car home and received the title, I was able to contact the original owner and learned several interesting facts. First, he was sorry that he had traded in the RX-7 - his new 993 was nowhere near as much fun. Second and more importantly, the original motor in the car had expired earlier that year just after the warranty had elapsed. He made a deal with Mazda USA that if he paid for the labor and miscellaneous materials, Mazda would provide a new engine and clutch! That was great news. As you can see, I've only put about 3,000 miles on the car in the 12 years that I've owned it. It was only driven during the summers a few times each season. I used a dealer plate on the car until 2002 and then I titled it in my name. Off season it was properly covered and stored. The oil has been faithfully changed and Pettit Protek-R synthetic fuel lubricant has always been used with Sunoco Ultra gasoline. MODIFICATIONS The majority of the '93 and '94 RX-7s that you see for sale have been modified to one degree or another by the fast and furious contingent - it's quite easy to crank out 400 or more HP with one of these motors. In a car weighing 2789 pounds, that's a great power to weight ratio - more suitable for the race track or drag strip. Even in stock trim, when driven on the street, its potential to get you into trouble with the Troopers is enormous. The size of the grin on your face is directly proportional to the proximity of your next speeding ticket. I have made four modifications to this RX-7 - all of them easily reversed to stock . I installed a Pettit cat-back stainless exhaust and kept the original system. A new in-dash AM-FM-CD and Pettit vacuum gauge were added - again retaining stock components. In 2008 I replaced the original 16" wheels with a set of O.Z. 8" X 17" Ultraleggara alloys and Goodyear F1 235/45X17 tires. I did not keep the original wheels. I purchased, but have never installed a Pettit cold air intake system and lightweight pulley kit - they go with the car. CONDITION The interior is flawless. Underhood is clean and all original. The suspension and undercarriage are clean and rust free - there is no evidence that it has ever been driven in the salt. The paint is totally original and the few imperfections are extremely minor.
