1969 CHEVROLET EL CAMINO SS 396 4 SPD First let me start out by telling you how great this car sounds. The big block rumble is unmistakeable and music to a gearhead. I'm listing this car for a friend of mine. He is only selling it because his garage is too full. He didn't use this car much either. There are very low miles on the engine and clutch rebuild. The car has been sitting for years. It is equipped with a 12 bolt rear, not posi. This El Camino has a ton of new stuff and has no known mechanical problems. It doesn't even leak. In January of this year (2010), he replaced the heater core, starter, rear shocks (load levelers), master cylinder, rubber front brake lines and a new Flowmaster exhaust with stainless tips. The clutch and motor were rebuilt professionally in June of 1999. But like I said, the car hasn't been used. The owner estimates about 1,000 miles on the rebuild. The dual feed carburetor has been rebuilt. The pinion seal was replaced in 1997 and even the water pump has been replaced. He has receipts for most of the work performed. Also, you will notice the pot metal bed corners and most of the badges have been replaced, along with the marker lights. The wheel well trim and door sill plates are new too. The bumpers are in good shape. They are near perfect but when you get right on top of them, you can see some age and pitting around the license plate. The interior is nice too. As you can see in the pictures, the console lid is cracked but the seats, dash, carpet, door panels and headliner are in good shape. This El Camino has front disc power brakes and a Kenwood AM/FM/CD player. Also included in this sale are 3 factory SS wheels that are in great shape and the 4th one has good trim ring and center cap. That wheel is what caused the damage to the driver rear quarter panel. The wheel came off while the car was driving and THAT is what dented the rear panel. Now, I'l pick it apart for you. As shown in the pictures, the aesthetics can use a little help. It's still a nice looking car. I pointed with my pen knife to a small BB size knick in the windshield. As hard as it is to see, I'm pretty sure that it will pass any state inspection. The vinyl top is in good shape but the typical rust at the rear window is beginning to show. Also, some rust is beginning around the wheel wells. You have to look closely, but it's there. There's also a little rust in the bed area. The driver's door is wavy. A light colored car would disguise most of this, but black shows all and I try to tell all. You will notice a small 1" cut in the grill bar. I can't explain how this happened. I tried to show a few thin spots in the paint that were caused by a buffer awhile back. However, when I took the pictures, it was difficult to distinguish so I eliminated them. Most of you know that the VIN doesn't tell me if this car was always an SS car or even if it was always a 396 but it is now and runs great. Overall, I think this is a very nice car and priced right to sell! Please check my feedback and bid with confidence. If you have any questions, please ask through eBay messages.
