Vehicle Detail

1971 International Harvester Travelall 1010 / Scout 1000 Low Reserve The Good:Runs great. Starts up immediately. New clutch disk installed recently. Five new tires and rims for light loads and better gas milage. Six old rims and tires included for heavy loads, but the tires are bald. Original hub caps included. Original "line setting ticket" included. IH-issued repair manual, orginal owners manual, and international trucks service directory included. Newish belts and hoses. New battery. The engine is in great shape. The transmission is strong. The interior is in decent shape. All the windows function. The back seats fold and unfold. Towing package: 2" hitch reciever and electric brakes.Has 122721 miles, but still has a lot of life in it. Hand-written documentation including: odometer readings, gas consumption, locations visited, notes, and more go back to 1977.I believe A/C works, but needs to be charged. Heater works great. The Bad:The body needs some work. As you may be aware, Internationals are infamous for rusting and this one is no exception. I have installed zinc anodes to slow (and hopefully stop) the rusting of the body. The gas tank selector doesn't work. It will not shift to the front tank. The gas guage does not work properly. It shows 5/8 when it is full. Some jerk rammed his motorcycle into the front when it was parked in my neighborhood, which caused bent the bumper in on the passenger side, there is a dent on the light housing, and the grill was damaged (see the pictures).Rear window crank is not original. Original crank is included (it works with door key), but may be difficult to fix (see picture). The Ugly:I have sanded and painted the wheel wells because that is where the rust seemed to be the worst. Only did one side, so the paint job looks pretty ugly. The previous owner patched up dents and rust in an ugly way (pictures with silver sheet metal screwed on).Windshield is cracked (see pictures). I was planning on fixing this truck up, but I haven't had the funds to get beyond rims, tires, and a new clutch. Now I am moving and I must let it go.This truck is a real gem! It just needs polishing.
