We have just obtained this TWO owner 1981 Fiat PininFarina Spider 2000...Turbo Model from the second owner who worked for the original owner here in Chicago. This car has a documented 33,212 miles of use and all information that is presented can be confirmed through documentation and witness. This car started its life as a 'VERY RARE' 1981 Fiat Spider Turbo model that due to factory issues with the Turbos and transmisions had, under warranty, the transmission replaced and engine replaced by Fiat at 20K miles. The new Fiat engine was the original 2000 model matched with a new factory transmission. The drive line has a total of 13K miles of use and the car runs and operates like new. This is the fuel injected engine that starts on the first crank of the key! This car has been sitting in a local heated garage for the last three years with less than 1,000 miles of use in that time. Previous the original owner kept the car in a warehouse under cover for over 20 years with only occassional use during the summer season. Mechanically the car is as straight as you will find in the country. There are no isses with the engine, transmission, drive-line, brakes, bearings, suspension, or exhaust system. I drove the car 60 miles yesterday at 70 mph without an issue. There are no leaks (anywhere), the engine does not blow any smoke and idles as smooth as the day it was installed. The transmission shifts through all gears without hesitation and the clutch is very tight. Electronics are in perfect operational order. All guages, lights, switches, and instrumentation work properly with the exception of minor issues with the fuel guage although the warning light does operate properly. The heater and related swicthes work great. I know these cars are known to have electrical issues and this car has none. Interior is in very good to excellent condition with no damage present to the seats or dash panels. The carpets show minimal wear and are all in place without rips, tears, or damage. The dash is in excellent condition the vents are all operational. This is an exceptional interior. Body & Paint...the body and paint are in good condition with only minimal surface rust and imperfections. The paint does show some spidering from age however it is very presentable and ORIGINAL. The body is very straight and clean with small areas of surface rust with no through the body areas. The lower rocker panels are in excellent condition as well as all door jams and hinge areas. The chrome on this car is exceptional including the windshield, bumpers, and all other trim areas. The engine bay and trunk areas are in perfect condition with the original spare and jack in place. The top will need to be replaced due to window fade and small tears however this can be completed for the new buyer at a cost of $300. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL CAR THAT HAS NOT EXPERIENCED ANY RESTORATION PROCESSES. YOU WILL NOT FIND A MORE ORIGINAL AND CLEANER MODEL IN THE COUNTRY AT OUR RESERVE PRICE.
