Vehicle Detail
Super low mile 1985 CADILLAC Eldorado Original "Blue-License-Plate" California Car CADILLAC - a name that has set the standard in American history for luxurious automotive designs and innovations. Few cars exemplify such standard more than this shining example of American ingenuity. Opinion surveys throughout the years have revealed that Cadillac is still the ultimate American symbol of success, the hallmark of prestige, the apparent expression of the ability to own and enjoy the best. ELDORADO - a legend from the time of the Spanish conquistadores, applied to a fabulous land somewhere in South America, believed to abound in gold and precious stones. The term Eldorado is still used today to signify fabulous wealth and off course as a distinctive nameplate reserved exclusively for the most luxuries Cadillac models. The beautiful low mile specimen offered in this auction is arguably one of the best chrome steel bumper Cadillacs you can possibly find for sale, as it remained virtually brand new in many aspects even after 25 years, because of it's limited use with less than 700 miles driven on average per year. While 17256 miles currently displayed on the odometer are already quite exciting, this important fact fortunately can be confirmed not only by its overall stunning condition, but more importantly so by all the supporting documentation at hand. These include amongst others a collection of back to back DMV registrations from day one, a few service invoices, and a time line consistent CarFax report dated 4/11/2010, showing green check marks and a flawless detailed California history all the way. This Cadillac for sale represents the last year of the 6th Eldorado series which was produced from 1979 to 1985. Built in the Linden, NJ plant it was initially sold in April of 1985 to the first owner by the Wood Cadillac dealership in Santa Rosa - California. He kept the vehicle until August of 2008, when he sold it to the second and last owner with 14472 miles on the odometer, as per California Certificate of Title at hand. The last owner acquired it for his vacation home in the Palm Springs area, where it remained for the last 18 months. Door stickers, Window Vin Plate & Code Decal on the trunk lid do match the title and equipment of the car. An original sales invoice, as well as a copy of the window sticker come with it as well, as is the original leather key fob shown below with the two golden Cadillac keys attached. All in all flawless documentation, what else can you possibly ask for when looking for a low mile Cadillac Eldorado in pristine condition. A set of dealership license plate frames surrounding the originally issued blue plates also remained on the vehicle throughout its "life", bearing evidence that the car never left the state on a permanent basis. The 6th series Eldorado in its 3rd generation as a front wheel driven car legitimized downsizing for both the American public and U.S. auto makers and thus led to smaller, lighter cars. With its clean lines the Eldorado's styling easily passes the test of time, artfully and subtly formed, delicate, bold and pure Cadillac at one and the same time. A look inside the vehicle reveals, that this particular car was kept well protected in the owners' garage from the California sun when not in use, as the original leather interior still presents itself almost like new in most every aspect. Please click on the above picture for a right-hand view of the interior. Once seated you will feel right at home and will notice, that nothing inside this beautifully preserved vehicle requires attention of any kind, not the dash in its entirety, the seats themselves, front or back, or even the driver's side armrest, a rare sight indeed. Please click on the above picture to view the dash from the left-hand side The dashboard in front of you features a simple information center featuring 3 green LED displays in the upper row informing the driver about driven speed, fuel level and fuel range, all of which can be alternated to either display U.S. or metric measurements. The center of the beautiful wood dash face is occupied by a sound system featuring an AM/FM stereo cassette unit with built in equalizer underneath the electronic climate control unit and a fuel data display above, allowing the vehicle operator to toggle between different fuel data for information. The ashtray below it all is still as shiny as on day one, suggesting that the vehicle was never smoked in as well. A glove compartment to the right of it, in front of the passenger seat still contains the fully loaded leather bound Cadillac folder. This folder contains the new Cadillac Owner's Welcome Brochure, an Owner's Manual as well as a Maintenance Schedule Booklet alongside some other amazing little tidbits. A list of luxury accessories furthermore contribute to Cadillac's attempt to remain the "Standard of the World". These include: Electronic Climate Control Side Window Defogger Remote Operated Trunk Release Cruise Control Power windows, mirrors and door locks Six-Way Power Driver's & Passenger Seat Illuminated Vanity Mirrors Front & Rear Carpeted Floor Mats Tilt/Telescoping Steering Wheel Front Cornering Lights AM/FM Stereo Cassette Radio 4.1l V8 D.F.I. Engine 4-spd. Auto Overdrive Transmission Front Wheel Drive Independent 4-Wheel Suspension Electronic Level Control 4-Wheel Disc Brakes Power Assisted Steering Carpeted Trunk w. trunk mat Automatic Hood and Trunk Light ... plus many more! While the Cadillacs were significantly downsized from the previous full size units, trunk space is still available in abundance even by nowadays standards. Spacy enough for the vacation luggage of a family of five, the Eldorado's trunk is flawless throughout. Floor carpeting has been protected over the years by a factory Cadillac trunk mat since day one, and is therefore just like the rest of the car well preserved, with all carpeting intact. A spare tire is still mounted underneath the matching carpet cover. Now let's have a closer look at the exterior. Always living the good life in sunny California, this luxury cruiser's body is still as straight as can be. It is easy to see that the vehicle was never been involved in so much as an accident or wreck of any kind. Admittedly a few small, yet hardly noticeable "park dings" grace the sides of the body. The paint itself originates from the factory, not necessarily something you can expected from 25 year old car. Finished in the beautiful "Medium Gray Metallic" (code 15WA8573) complimented with red pin-striping the paint still carries a mellow shine throughout. Merely the front section has received a few paint chips from small airborne debris, all of which are too insignificant to even show in the many pictures displayed in this presentation. Underneath the massive hood one of the most durable of all of GM's engine creations performs its duty. The reliable HT 4100 V-8, which was first introduced in 1982, is equipped with an electronic fuel injection system to satisfy smog laws from back then. With a mere 17,000 miles on the clock it is no wonder that it still operates flawless, just like the rest of the car. Please click on the above picture to view the engine from the left-hand side As expected the engine starts up on the turn of the key, always, cold or hot. Right after startup it runs smoothly with confidence-inspiring sound. Once on the roll, the car performs with outstanding road manners and provides a ride that is simply heavenly. The torquey little V8 has sufficient power from idle all the way to the redline. Rolling along at 80mph the engine runs almost imperceptibly and gets you anywhere between 16 to 23 miles to the gallon. But what counts as much as shiny paint and mechanical reliability on a 25-year-old car is its structural integrity. One look at the undercarriage tells you more than a thousand words: no rust on the floors and structural elements - ever, not even a tiny little bit, as factory applied undercoating furthermore protected the chassis from the elements. No spray can artistry either, as everything you see here is factory original and virginal. The term "as good as it gets" comes to mind, rightfully so! Yep, only in California you will find such incredible bottom, and even here only on a car that has been pampered like a favorite child! Please click on the above picture to see another close-up of the undercarriage Well, here it is, a true low mile California Cadillac of the much desired last series of the chrome bumper Eldorados, and more so, a beautiful example from the last year of their production, in superbly preserved original condition, boasting an abundance of luxury features. With cars from the 70s reaching record prices in auctions nationwide, some of them reaching 6-digit results, distinct automobiles from the 80s become evenly interesting with great potential. Securing choice examples while they are still very affordable makes a lot of sense, particularly when they are of such significant historical interest and as well preserved as the Eldorado offered in this auction Who knows, by tomorrow's standards these milestone Cadillacs may turn out to be the best value on eBay Motors today! Please read my terms of sale ! I do my best to accurately display and describe my vehicle for sale. Make sure you have viewed ALL the pictures presented in this listing, that includes many pictures accessible through clickable links in underlined words. If you still have any questions remaining that are not answered by the description and the pictures above, I invite you to email me at Axelbee@earthlink.net before you place your bid. Please understand that, as nice as the car may be, you are still bidding on a "USED CAR", and as such it surely will not measure up to any new vehicle. You most certainly will find some flaws consistent with its age and usage, and if you are an overly picky buyer, who never purchased a vehicle online before, it might not be suitable for you to purchase a vehicle through this online auction. If you are someone who wants to save a lot of money on a good car, as it is possible in an online auction, you may have to consider putting a small portion of those savings back into the vehicle to make it as perfect as possible in your own opinion. The car is in remarkable condition, but it is still a used car, and as such I shall not be held responsible for things that happen after a sale, therefore it is being sold AS-IS with no implied warranty. Please place a bid only if you are serious about owning the car and have the necessary funds readily available to pay for it. I expect payment in full within 7 days after the auction ended and will not be able nor willing to assist in financing. I accept your payment in US funds only, this by means of a Cashier's Check or a Wire Transfer. I will certainly work with you on any arrangement to have the car picked up from its current location in the Palm Springs area of California. While I do not mind to have it shipped at a later time, payment terms still need to be met within the 7-day period. While I gladly assist with any shipping arrangements of the car to be shipped to any location in the world, any additional costs for transportation and preparation will be solemnly the high bidder's responsibility in addition to the final high bid price. If you do not agree with all of the terms above, then please, do not bid on this vehicle. Once the auction ended and you had successfully become the high bidder, you have accepted a legal and binding contract, as outlined in eBay's rules and regulation, to purchase the car offered in this auction with no room for further negotiations. Thank you for stopping by and your interest in my auction.
