Hi Gang, Amherst County High Auto Shop got this car last year. The owner had left it parked for a couple of years before deciding to give it to us. We washed off the crud, chased out the ants, swapped out some flat tires, dropped in a battery, and it fired right up. No smoke, no knocks, warmed up to normal temp and stayed there. We did a couple of laps around the parking lot. The brakes felt O/K after knocking the rust off the rotors. The transmission seemed to shift properly. It felt like a good fixer-upper. We had other projects going, so, we parked it, planning to go back to it later. It's been a year now and I still can't seem to find a way to work it into our program.....so.... It's up for auction to the highest bidder. The problems we know of: Windshield wipers shot, Washer fluid light is on (reservoir seems to have a leak), Sensor warning light is on (we haven't looked to see why), Headlight switch is finicky (wants to turn on the running lights by itself, have to fiddle with it to turn them off) There is some noise coming from the ignition distributor (we have not investigated) The fuel filler and trunk release lever pivot in the trunk is rusted/stuck (apparantly the trunk leaked water at one time, doesn't seem to be leaking since we cleaned the crud) Spare tire is missing and lockable storage door is broken (one of my students just HAD to know what was in there) The drivers' door has some damage (see photo) The left front fender has some damage (see photo) The radio comes on, but no sound (fuse?) Now for the good news: The car is virtually rust free and feels very solid. Other than the wipers and sensor light, I believe it will pass Va. State safety inspection. When we pulled it back in for the photos, it started right up, no smoke, no knocks, drove good around the parking lot, and was nice and dry inside.
