Vehicle Detail
Here is the story of this truly fantastic economy car: My wife bought this 1998 Toyota Corolla around 2001 from a used car lot and I believe we are the second owners. It had about 55,000 on it at the time and we have put over 100,000 more on it without any breakdowns, amazing. It has never left us stranded, ever. No wrecks with us and, to my knowledge, none with the previous owner either. I did hit a raccoon once, not a show stopper, more about that later. This has only been used as a family/commuter car to get to and from work/school, etc. We took a couple of vacations within Texas as well. The check engine light came on once, last summer. I took the car in and was told to get a new catalytic converter for the environment, so I did. Also last year one of the power steering hoses had a leak, so I had that replaced as well. Really, this one of the most reliable cars I have ever owned, however, we have a new car now, so this one has got to go. The interior and exterior are fair for a car of this age. It has always been a non smoking car with us, and I am 99% sure about the first owners because there are no obvious signs of burns, etc. That being said, this is a used car that has it's idiosyncrasies and, like most used cars, could use at least a little fixing up. Here are other known "issues" as best I can describe them: Mechanical: -Seems like the right front tire is wearing a little fast, may need an alignment. Tires are still in good shape and were new last summer. -Car could probably use a brake job, though they are fully functional. -I think shocks and struts are also something that all used cars need replaced eventually, and these are probably also due. Again, this does not affect the safety or drive-ability of the car at all. From my understanding, you would get a smoother ride with new ones and so it is recommended. -The windshield washer reservoir is cracked and will not hold much fluid for very long. Exterior: -I hit a large racoon one night and it cracked some plastic on the front bumper. It seems cosmetic and it never seemed to affect the performance of the vehicle at all. You can see it in the pics. -If you look close, some of the paint has eroded and chipped on the hood and is are several specs of rust. I suppose the car could use a paint job, but it never bothered me too much, just worth mentioning. It is also shown in the picture. -Rear driver side bumper has some black scuffs. It seems as if there is an ever so slight dent as well (you have to look close). I was in a store one day and came out to my car in the parking lot and noticed it. Nothing I could do. The black may come out with a little buffing, again, it has not bothered me enough to try. Again, purely cosmetic. -Also on the rear bumper, there is residue from old stickers my wife had put on there. None of the stickers are legible and I have not taken the time to have them fully removed. Interior: -The carpet on the floor is torn a and worn a little bit so I put in some nice thick rubber floor mats to cover it up. Mats (gray) are included with car. -Some of the ceiling fabric is a little frayed around edges, but nothing horrific. -The rubber seal around passenger rear door frame looks chewed up for some reason but it does not affect anything. You don't see it when the door is closed. -Some of the seat fabric has stains from normal wear and tear. The front seats have seat covers that are maybe a couple of years old and are included. -The cigarette lighter fixture does not fully stay in place. We used to use it for a cd player. We thought we had it fixed, but it was never right and we never use it anymore anyway. It may or may not work. Don't know. There is a Kenwood CD player/radio installed now that is included with car. Stereo and speakers sound good to me. -The cup holder in the back seat is broken, so no cup holders back there. Seems like an easy repair to replace it. I will try to add more pix and details if I missed something, but this seems to be an accurate description. Since I have never sold a car on eBay before, here are the terms that seem logical. Let me know if there is anything I need to add. 1-Buyer is responsible for quick payment through Paypal. 2-Buyer is responsible for title transfer, registering, and (since we are in Texas) insuring the car before it leaves the driveway! 3-Buyer is responsible for all shipping and the charges for shipping from Austin, TX, USA. Let me know, and I will help coordinate any details as necessary. Thanks!
