Vehicle Detail

I am 77 years old, and have health and financial issues. My first car I owned was also a 1940 Packard. I bought it from an elderly lady in 1951, whose husband had died. It had 14,000 miles on it and was in showroom condition. She had it in the garage sitting on 4 wood and metal milk crates. She had it on these crates so the tires would not be ruined. I bought it for $500 dollars. When I went into the Army in 1953, I sold it to a Dr. for $500 dollars. I always remembered that car and hoped I could replace it. I bought this car with the idea of restoring it to the condition of my first Packard. Unfortunately dreams come to an end. Now I must sell it before I can finish restoring it. The following is the good and the bad. Good Car is complete Virtually rust free Starts right up Does not overheat Brakes work good (new Master Cylinder) Body very straight Rare Rare Car 2 side mounts Jump seat Excellent working partition window Padded factory top Bad Top needs restoration Some mouldings need replaced Needs tires Needs paint Needs some chroming Trunk needs repair 1 cracked window (side vent) Drive it the way it is or restore it, my loss your gain. On Mar-11-10 at 14:52:51 PST, seller added the following information: A Packard expert from Indiana called me, he owns 8 Packards among them a 1940 180 Ralston Cabriolet. He informed me that the number on the cowl plate (1332-2230) represents one of the last cars off the assembly line in 1940. He told me that this is a rare car. I went to DMV 4/13/10 to get a new title. They said I should have it in 2 to 3 weeks, maybe sooner. Winning bidder to pay $1,000.00 in 48 hours and balance when I have the title. Any questions call Jay 760-730-8909On Apr-16-10 at 14:48:40 PDT, seller added the following information: Clarification: The trunk on the trunk rack needs restoration. The car trunk has no rust and is in good condition.
