Vehicle Detail
I'm selling this very solid '87 16-valve GTI as i have absolutely no time or energy with my job to tinker with it any longer. I bought it as a solid project car with good parts, and was planning on turning it into a clean street/race prepped car. The mk2 is my favorite style by far, especially the front grille and lights (which have been refinished already) Key features: -Eibach lowering springs with Tokico shocks/struts -highly sought after 16valve engine with new plug wires, ignition module and other misc parts. I was in the process of converting the car to electronic fuel injection....so the engine is not running, although ran well before the wiring job began. It would probably take a couple hours to get it running back on the stock stuff.....i just have no time, nor the desire to, even though i know it slightly devalues the car as a whole. -The body has primer all over it, and the previous owner had done some "body sculpting" with filler on the back, and drivers side, however i just picked off most of it, and the rest could be removed with a DA sander, or any paint removal tool to expose the rust free body. I was planning on painting the car at my shop, as the car is very strait, and would just need to be sanded down and minimal body work done to get it looking spectacular. There is a dent in the lower rocker which has always been there since i bought the car, however i have a piece of sheetmetal cut from another car that can be used as a perfect patch panel if you don't feel like pulling the dent. there is so little rust on this vehicle, there really weren't any pictures to take of it, and this can be verified in person. -The interior is great, as far as the carpet and seats. The driver and pass seats are RECARO transplants from a GLI, as i liked the style better, and the bolstering support, they would be an 9-10 condition. I obviously removed the dash, as a sheetmetal one was in the works, with minimal gauges just for engine monitoring. The carpet is all there, and is in good condition. The door panels are the stock GTI ones with red stripe and are in fairly good shape, with a small crack in the vinyl on one. The rear package shelf is in great shape, and still has functioning straps that allow it to lift with the lift gate. I have 2 lift gates....one with the gti spoiler, and the one that's on the car that has no spoiler. -Lots of extra parts!! i have a full set of TSW 16x7.5" wheels which are on the car, as well as a full set of stock GTI phone dial wheels, and 3 other konig 17" wheels that i'm throwing in if you want em. There is a GLI dash, 3 consoles, and a bunch of extra parts that have been accumulated, along with an entire harness from a GLI. I also have the original 16valve side mouldings that are very rare and The Bad.... as mentioned before, it's not currently running, and has no battery...although i will include the 3-year brand new Titanium autocraft battery with the BUY it now. The body is in primer, so unless you're a racer or a rat rod kinda guy, you'll think its ugly! The wiring has been stripped down a bit, to only include the minimal accessories, and to lighten the car for racing purposes....so unless you are a racing purist, or love driving a no frills German machine...then walk away! all of the wheels will need new tires for the most part, as they are mismatched and older. These mk2 GTI's do not come up for sale very often, and as of this moment is the ONLY one on ebay. Please feel free to email me and i will give you my phone number if you would like to ask me any questions. It's time someone else with spare time and motivation can finish this car off into a badass euro machine.
