1940 Chevrolet Special Deluxe Sedan. Body by Fisher. Style # 40-1019. Body #N 728. Trim #87. Paint #247. My mother purchased this car in 1971 from the widow of the original owner in Delaware OH, where it had been stored in a barn for 10+ years. My mother drove it very lightly, then gave it to my grandfather, who was an old-car fanatic. My grandfather painted the car and did a little bit of tinkering, but then he died, almost 30 years ago. It's been sitting in a dirt floor garage ever since. Some knobs are missing in the dash, and the tires are sunk in about 2" of mud, but otherwise this car is remarkably intact. Aside from some minor surface rust and the upholstery damage, this rare car is in great condition and would be a real find for anyone looking for a project. My grandfather had purchased a second engine he hoped to install, but didn't get that completed. This second engine is sitting in the garage beside the car. The hood is off, and resting on the car roof. Fenders were taken off and painted, and have not been reinstalled. Recently some raccoons got in (car windows--which are fine--had been left rolled down), and had a field day with the upholstery. Damage shown in photos. Our family treasured this car, and would love for it to go to someone who will finally bring this elegant car to life again.
