Vehicle Detail
I inherited this bike 5 years ago and have been working and pooring time and money into restoring and replacing itms ever since. This has been especially challenging as this bike was only produced for one year. In the coarse of all the work, i have discovered the engine is not runnable. I paid the honda shop to get the carbs cleaned and the bike running. It did, but for only a very limited time. Something internally in the engine let go.I was never able to get the cooling system topped off. There is coolant in the engine oil telling me the head gasket is leaking and needs replacing. The left cylinder bank was burning coolant it turned out.The last time the engine ran there an internal rattle and the engine stopped running. The engine will no longer rotate. It is not seized, but it will only rotate aout 270 degrees before there is something mechanically preventing it from moving. Maybe a valve is messed up and contacting a piston. Something is significantly wrong.I have virtually everything to put this back on the street, before this engine problem was found. I am heartbroken but deciding to end my efforts here. I have over $5000 into this effort. Engine repairs exceed my mechanical skills tool capabilitiesand more$ to spend. I don't have the money the dealer will charge to swap an engine. This is a rare and beautiful machine. You'll likely never see another. This one is beautiful although not finished. It is stock condition with the inconceivably equipped carbon fiber pieces replacing the unobtainable oem ones. It is both a compromise and an aesthetic upgrade at once. The bike was completely repainted early on. Unfortunately the left side cover had cracks that were not seen before it was painted. When I installed it, it broke. The cover is virtually irreplaceable. I kept the brken piece and it can be repaired but will need to be repainted. This made me want to cry. The paint job alone was $1000. If you have seen a stock Super Magna, you know it has the ugliest handlbar ever concieved. But it is unique because the bar where the grips and switchgear attach are 7/8" but the rest is 1". This is impossible to substitute for something else. I had a beautiful bar for a kawasaki w650 that matched the requirement and looks magnificant. See the pics. Unless you are a super magna fan you'll completely miss this detail. A beautiful change. Carbon fiber pieces are aircraft quality, specifically for this very rare "Super Magna" model. See the pictures. The weave in the CF is deep, glossy and accents the look of the bike exquisitely. * Instrument cluster cover* Airbox covers (both sides)* Chin fairing* Chin fairing/exhaust pipe coversI paid the honda shop $1200 to clean the carbs and get the engine running. They did, but I should have had them check the valve train and check the valve lash. A lethal mistake on my part perhaps. When I got the bike it was red. The paint was faded. The aluminum covers on the engine was a mess. I had every chrome and aluminum piece taken to the chrome shop. $3000 worth. It looks fantastic. * Valve covers* Frame rails covers* Left and right engine covers* Shaft drive cover* Foot controls* Engine Coolant lines* Exhaust heat shields* Exhaust headersThe exhaust system is irreplaceable and cleanup and rechroming was the only option. It was also ceramicoated on all none chrome surfaces so this should have excellent rust resistance for long life. What else I have...New k&n reuseable air filterNew carb cablesBrand new front turn signal mounts (still in honda OEM packaging)(2) new Right clutch cover gasketsAll hydraulic systems cleaned and fluid replacedNew fork sealsThe honda oem service manual for this bikeOriginal aircleaner covers that i re-powdercoated before buying the gorgeous CF versionsWhat is needs if the engine issues are fixed:* Fork seals need to be replaced ( i have these in the box)* Forks and front wheel need to be bead blasted to clean up oxidation. Then they could be polished, painted, chromed or powder coated. Your choice.* Rear wheel needs to having polishing completed or needs to be chromed, powdercoated or painting. It was oxidized and needed cleanup. * turn signals and headlight must be reinstalled. All is included in the sale. This was all that was remaining and are cosmetic items. Than means the bike is rideable while getting to these items. The Texas title is in my name but the bike has never been registered for the street. It has never been running so it could never pass the inspection needed to register it.I am gutted but after 5 years and the type of work needed now if a hump I just can't take on. I live in an apartment and I need to hand this off to someone that has the capability to finish this task. If you buy it to part it out you'll be able to get your money back, but it will sadden me to hear that all this effort won't result in getting this back on the street. I am beside myself that I will never ride this bike with all the effort I have put in to make it look this way and having solved the problems like the handlebar and exhaust rehab. Shipping this is your responsibility. I will meet with your shipper to hand off the bike, but I cannot crate or otherwise deliver the bike to your shipper. I have had shippers deliver to my home address before including a “haul bikes” 18-wheeler.
