Now at age 76, after many years of restoring and driving old race cars, we have sold two of our shop buildings, and I am being encouraged by my family to retire and sell most of my cars, and huge stock of Vintage parts. This Vintage Volvo is for sale at the shop and elsewhere. We will consider all reasonable offers to end early This really nice 1961 544 Volvo has been owned by the same Southern family for over 30 years, and in recent years, it's use has primarily been at car shows, where it draws lots of attention. The car was restored and upgraded using mostly authentic Volvo parts, about 12 years ago. When it was restored, it received a later 1975 B20-F 2-liter engine with a Weber 2bbl downdraft carburetor. The interior was re-upholstered in the correct Volvo patterns, and is in very good condition . Black with silver metallic paint is in nice condition, with minor flaws from use, and the body panels, including the roof, look nice overall. Other than a bit of paint bubbling at the bottom of a door, I see no rust . Beautiful chrome grill ( expensive) and bumpers. The battery was re-located to the trunk, where there is also a CD player mounted. The electrical system has been changed to 12 volts, except for the heater and wipers , which have the proper step down to 6 volts. This car drives very well, and performs nicely with the added power of the newer engine. . The 4 speed transmission goes easily through all gears. The exhaust sounds good, exiting through Ansa duals, and looks good in the rear. The owners changed the wheels to 14" and have 'new' 195/65 tires in front and 185/75 tires in the rear, for a nice stance. If you prefer Volvo wheels, please let us know before bidding, as we have several other 444/445/544 Volvos , and might arrange a swap. A fun car to take to the Cruz's, many think it's a smaller 46 Ford , or just enjoy a drive on local country roads.
