1998 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4.0L 4X4 Selling as a project restoration car, or as a parts car, it runs and drives! Does not go into reverse and second gear. But still drive-able. I drove it without 2nd gear for over a year. As far as I know the front gearbox is good. The last time I used it, it worked fine. The engine was rebuilt top-up with a complete valve job Nov. 2014, approx. 30K miles driven since. However it currently is running a little ruff and consuming excessive fuel, getting less then 10mpg. Overall the engine is tight. Has great compression and burns no oil. A/C Blows cold as all components have been replaced over the last several years. Other items replaced during my owner ship include, front end steering and suspension items, brakes, power steering pump, water pump, radiator, fuel pump computer and much more. A trailer hitch was installed Aug. 2017. I HAVE ALL THE RECEIPTS! Tires and brakes are in excellent condition! Body is good except for some slight damage to the right rear passenger door and quarter panel. See photos. All exterior lights and electric windows work. This JEEP is suitable for a rebuild project (the two main issues are transmission and fuel consumption) ….or as a comprehensive parts source car, barring the transmission of course. Regarding shipping, the car does drive safely. As stated brakes and tires are excellent. It shifts from first to third without any problem when you just stay in first a little longer, about to 25mph, and release accelerator for shift to third. Forth and overdrive are fine. Just remember, NO REVERSE. I recommend only short distances until fuel delivery issue is remedied. Please contact me if you have any questions.
