Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is 1976 MGB. This car has the 4 cylinder motor with dual side draft carburetors and 4 speed manual transmission. It does NOT have overdrive. This car runs great, starts right up every time. There is no rust on the car, but the body is a 7/10, looks great from 10 feet, but there are a few spots where it is not perfect. I purchased this car (right here on eBay!) in 2007. It was in the midst of being restored, the body had just been sandblasted and re painted, it was running but had no interior. I purchased a brand new interior from Moss motors and had it professionally installed by Glenn's MG Repair. ( I have all the paperwork)http://www.glennsmg.com/index.html While the interior was being done, I had Glenn go over the whole car and this is a partial list of what has been done. New control arms and bushingsNew steering rackRebuilt dual carbsNew choke cableNew beltsNew heater valveNew Pertonix Ignition SystemNew rear break shoes and cylindersNew Master cylinder and rebuilt brake boosterReplaced fuel tankReplaced rear transmissionNew DriveshaftNew clutch slave cylinarNew AlternatorHead Gasket replacedThe wheels are from a Datsun 280Z, but they look great on the car with the MG center caps! (Well... 75% of the caps, drivers front cap has gone missing) The car looks ok and runs great.(looks great from 10 feet - up close you will notice a few scuffs) Keep in mind, the car is 42 years old, so there are some issues. The drivers door lock has come loose. (I still have it, but haven't bothered taking off the door and resetting it) - I don't even have the keys for the door locks as I never had a need to lock a car when the top is always down. Why tempt someone to cut the top anyway. :) As for the top, it was new in 2007 but not used much. There are 2 small tears in the rear section, but otherwise it goes up and down with ease. The speedometer 'works', but is not accurate. It shows about 2/3rds your actual speed. I am quite certain the mileage is not accurate, and the trip counter also does not work. The heat and wipers work, but I have mostly avoided cold and rain so haven't put them through any great tests. Feel free to ask me questions - happy bidding! If you are in the Tampa Bay area and would like to look at the car before hand, just shoot me a message and that will be arranged.
