Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1970 Dodge D400 boom truck. This truck is in excellent working order for it's age. The truck originated as a state truck in the city of Richmond Virginia, and was most likely used for city maintenance such as traffic and street lights (as it has never been equipped with outriggers. It has a ladder style bucket, which works great. The lift cylinder has been rebuilt and pressure tested by a reputable hydraulic shop for safety during use. I purchased the truck from the second owner, who purchased it at an auction from the state or city, in 1978. The truck was shortly after painted, and lived it's life being used for personal chores such as cleaning windows and gutters. I have used the truck the same, but just don't use it or enjoy it like it should have. The truck runs good, and is drivable but has always had questionable brakes. All of the equipment, lights, and otherwise are in good shape. The boxes are in great storage and show no signs of rust. It was stored inside a dry building from 1978 to present day. This truck really is a neat one of a kind find, especially still in working order. Would make a great addition to a truck collection, or even for someone planning to use it. The truck can be demonstrated for anyone interested. I also have some videos that I will be glad to share via email. The boom measures approximately 40 feet fully extended, plus the height from the ground. The truck has a 318 V8 with a New Process NP 435 transmission and a 6:20 gear ratio. It is a single speed rear. The weight specs and such are included in one of the images as with information of the boom manufacturer and original installer. The engine runs well, but does show some signs of sitting for much of the past decade. The brake lines and hoses are all new, and the vehicle is currently registered and insured. This truly is a one of a kind, which makes it a limited market but I would love to see someone enjoy it and put it to use more than I am able. Any further questions are welcomed, and as are showings. Thanks for looking. On Jun-08-18 at 06:12:21 PDT, seller added the following information:
