Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 2006 Jetta TDI with 5spd manual. The pictures tell most of the story. This is a good, clean, well serviced, reliable, quick, safe, extremely fuel efficient (40mpg+), fun- to-drive turbo-charged diesel with a manual transmission, that will keep going strong as long as regular maintenance is performed. Some of these TDIs have been driven over 400K miles - http://www.dieselcar.com/features/high-mile-club/high-mile-club-451741-miles-2010-volkswagen-touran-2-0-tdi/ The good:The car has never been wrecked and I am the second owner It starts, runs, drives, handles, tracks and brakes as it should, A/C is coldI purchased this car in 2010 with 105k miles from a colleague of mine who purchased it new from the local dealer and had all dealer service performed - his wife used it as a commuter for her daily 60 mile commuteI used this a commuter for the past 7 or so years on my 50 mile daily commuteAlmost entirely highway mileage - you can't beat the 40+mpg when you drive a bunch of miles to work and back every dayThe car has been professionally serviced, with timing belt/h20 pump service at 105k and 205k miles, new clutch and solid mass flywheel conversion at 128k, new transmission at 133k, EGR cooler delete and stage 1 tune at 180k, regular air and fuel filter service, and regular oil changes (only using full synthetic) - you can view service records here: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmfQrV8fRecently passed NC safety inspectionSouthern car - no rustThe tires are in great shape and have only about 25k on a 60k tireInterior and headliner are clean and in good shape—many switches and the radio have been replaced for purely cosmetic reasonsHave never run any bio-fuels through it - only old fashioned petro dieselThe Bad:There is a good bit of lifter noise upon heavy acceleration. This was diagnosed as a dead lifter, and I was told the engine needs to have the cam and lifters replaced. This is common maintenance on these engines, and in retrospect I should have had this done when I had the timing belt changed at 205k. The parts are inexpensive (https://www.ebay.com/itm/VW-Jetta-MK5-2005-2006-BRM-1-9-TDI-Diesel-Camshaft-Kit-Valve-Cover-Gasket-OEM/263051737694?epid=7006414108&hash=item3d3f1afa5e:g:oagAAOSwuxFY0hTn) - so if you are handy with a wrench, my loss is your gainThe clutch will soon need replacing - the clutch disc and throwout bearing that match the car's solid mass flywheel are included with the sale (pictured)The lower driver's side seat cover is in need of replacementWith a little bit of wrenching, this is a solid car that would make for cheap, reliable, safe and efficient transportation, whether as a commuter, for a new driver, or as a bio-diesel conversion...or if you're feeling wacky and want to join the TDI race circuit...here's your winner!
