I will try to do this description in more or less abbreviated or short hand wording since I think it will be fairly long. As some have said, a lawyer does not know when to shut up!! Bought bike 10 years ago to complete. Bike ran, shifted and about %85 complete. Sat up. Triumphs in progress took priority. Now to old to ride. No sense completing bike I will never ride. Vin number(frame) is GS542. 1949 Ariel Sq.4 and other years have engine number in 2 places. One on left side cases, other on low rear mounting lug or boss. No number on side cases. Number on lug or boss is FJ502. Picture show where number usually. Not look removed. Appears never stamped. All academic since number visible on lug, and not part of Vin. I could not have gotten Registration if any problems of record. I give Bill of Sale with full warranty title. Bike has new tires. Previous owner say rebuilt engine. I Not warrant this.Gave me invoices, orders and detailed list parts would indicate to me some significant engine bottom and top rebuilding. My opinion only. Engine and frame both carry 1949 numbers. Do not know matching, probably not. Front fender center bracket not drilled or attached to fender. My 83 tear old palsied hands not good for careful work. Regarding missing engine number have attached picture and believe shows never stamped. Number location would be extreme left and left of flash from camera. Is concave an no evidence of hammer or grinder,or metal loss. I still love motorcycles even though I cannot ride, so I am very happy to receive questions through eBay or call me at 706 745 7869. Over last several years several people looked at bike and wanted to make special. cafe,or bobber. I discouraged. Have changed mind. Original parts hard to find and cost a lot. Why wait long time to ride and enjoy while you search for correct parts. To make rideable need to buy or have made wiring harness and add petcock and gas line. Need some type fenders. I would use bobbed original front fender and a sporty rear with simple mounting brackets for rear. Could be ridable with front brake only but crazy to do. Included in sale is long shaft later brake pedal which could be altered to clear exhaust pipes. Originals hard to find. It would not take a lot of searching, time or expense to be able to ride on road, in my opinion. Ride and enjoy while you look for that $1,000 rear fender.
