This year and body style is the lightest version of this truck of all the production runs. It is an original non air truck that was in true survivor condition before this build. There are not many surviving examples of these trucks these days despite the high production numbers, and very few in this condition. It was a full frame off Pro Build and there are pictures of the project included on this page. It weighs in at less than 2700 pounds dry and could be made even lighter with interior and other weight reductions. The engine is built around the Super Chevy Magazine feature article "Danger Mouse" project build and should be 500 HP at the flywheel according to their build and Edelbrocks kit numbers - We ran a chassis dyno session with only 22 degrees mechanical advance and it briefly peaked at 400 HP to the wheels which is almost 500 at crank- should be quite a bit more with full advance The truck is street legal and can comfortably be used on the street or track or both. It launches perfectly straight and predictable - you can either overpower the tires all the way up or learn how to launch it for almost wheels up weight transfer traction. It foot brakes to about 2500, converter comes in all the way around 3500, and the shift light is set for 5600 (it will turn 6500) -all of that happens very quickly with only a couple seconds in each gear (often less in first). It has excellent 4 wheel disc brakes and stops hard and steers and corners firmly with big 16 inch performance tires on the front and 275/16 M&H Dragmaster Drag Radials out back It drives extremely well with all new suspension pieces and large 16 in wheels and tires and has plenty of power. It doesn't smoke or overheat - you can sit in traffic or cruises and it never gets past the 180s on the temp gauge - it is a very reliable driver and a serious drag truck for not a lot of money. It has 3.73 gears so you are not killing the motor on the street and it has a surprising 60 foot time and quick top out in each gear with that ratio. We have videos of it running a 0-140 MPH in 11.5 seconds with 2 people in it, utilizing only foot brake to 2600 with no burnout - GTech Pro accelerometer has it at 10.77 1/4 mile, again, with no burnout. Drag calculators and gear ratio RPM calculators have it in the same range. That is faster than most modern supercars - this is not just a drag only truck - it is show car pretty and handles great - it is a one handed, easily controled drive to top speed - NOTE: The engine can still be turned up from this tune - OR dialed back if you think that is too much for you - apparently some do, but why would they even be looking at a V8 S-10 in the first place? An important point - Most vehicles like this have gone through dozens of high school graduating classes and have been wrecked, painted and repainted numerous times over shoddy bodywork and in the hands of novice mechanics and abusive drivers over the last 32 years - not this one - this truck was professionally built by a talented team who did a complete frame off restoration and modification build and adult owned since completed - We have pictures of the truck before it was touched and it was definitely in survivor condition. Most of these type trucks are cobbled together sketchy builds typically sourcing a worn out truck and combining it with a worn out stock V8 engine - not this one - if that is the price point you are looking for then I'm sure you will find one that needs tons of work and will likely cost more in the long run The total cost to date is well over the sale price offered here - Anyone with a Summit or Jegs catalog can walk around this truck and easily add up over $30,000 worth of speed parts alone. Just the Billet Holley Double Pumper, braided fuel lines, liquid filled Fuel Pressure Gauge and throttle return springs was a $1000. Just the aftermarket things you see in the cab, the AutoMeter Speedo, Shift Light Tach, Instruments, Grant GT Steering Wheel and Hurst QuarterStick was over a $1100 - the list goes on and on....
