Vehicle Detail
It saddens me but its time to sell grandpas 1954 Corvette. This is a great example of an unrestored car, it has been lovingly maintained over the years. True California classic. This is 2 or 3 owner car Im not sure if it was bought new. If there are any questions of things I have forgot to cover in this description please email me the questions. My goal is to represent the car as best I can. This is a 64 year old corvette! This Corvette as you can see from the pictures is white and although the pictures look great the lacquer paint has some imperfections in it here and there (it has had one repaint). The glass body panels are all original as this car has never been hit or apart. Overall the gaps are what I would say are good, the doors must only weight 25 lbs so theres no sagging. Overall the body is very nice, the frame is in beautiful shape with not even much surface rust on it. The corvette still has its 235 Original block, trans(2speed power glide) and running gear, carburetors are also numbered and you can see it has the chrome bullet intakes and the 6v system is in working order for as well as they worked back in the day. This car has been around a long time in this condition and the engine runs very well. The dash and gauges are original corvette down to the radio, however the choke pull knob is the only non corvette knob and some of the trim material around the speedo has become unglued over the years (you can see it in the pictures of dash) The car runs and drives very well and it hurts to say that it is much more of a smoother ride then my 60 corvette. There is some pitting around the windshield but the rest of the trim and chrome shines very well as you can see in the photos. The tires are older original type bi ply (we had radials on it for regular driving as the bi ply tires aren't great driving tires). 1951 California black plate with 54 year date tag, just like they came back in the day. There can't be to many like that out there anymore. All the upkeep and maintenance on this car has been in the mindset of keeping it original. Interior is obviously not the original but it is all correct material/pattern for a 1954 corvette and looks great. Like I said this is a great 64 year old car that anyone can drive day to day or feel proud about taking to a local cruse night. Everyone who's selling a car always says that "this car draws a crowd or really turns heads", however most people don't give this corvette a second look because they just don't know what it is, but at car cruses people get it and love it. Again a lot of people have never seen one in person so its a real conversation starter when you pull up next to a new corvette and ask to race. They only made 3,640 1954 corvettes and this one is number 1629. Im unsure of how many miles are on this car because the old speedo cable had broken for a while and I only plumbed a replacement in there last year. I also have a box of original parts including a perfect condition washer fluid bottle and mounting that will go with the car. This is a no reserve auction and I hope we can all be adults and have the funds to back up our bids. Happy bidding good luck and God speed. I reserve the right to end this auction early as the Car is for sale locally Side note: The last picture is my new daughter Eloise, the sale of this car is going towards a college fund. So when your wife asks why are you buying this car you can tell her you're helping send a wonderful child to college in 18 years.
