1981 Honda CBX-1000 Purchased from original owner who had a museum of 6 motorcycles by the way he cared for them in his Airplane Hanger - 3 of which were CBXs of various years. Cosmetically the bike is a 9.9+ with a little patina. Excellent condition for a 37 year old ICON in the Motor Cycle World. It has been mothballed & stored in two museums over last 20+ years. This CBX is titled in Oregon. I have acquired Oregon SPECIAL INTEREST PLATES which are permanent and never have to be renewed. It the Motorcycle is sold in Oregon the plates go with the bike. If sold outside of Oregon I will keep the plates and transfer them to one of my other motorcycles. It has been recently un-mothballed in a loving fashion by a master mechanic. The fuel system flushed with non-ethanol premium fuel. Installed a new battery along with a new battery tender hook-up. Changed the oil & filter. After a little cranking it came to life. There are no fuel leaks. It idles with the choke off. It Revs & Restarts fine. If the plan of the new owner is to ride the bike - I'd recommend a full service/tune and check over due to the time the bike has been idle. We haven’t driven it other than around the parking lot due to the age of the tires. If it goes back into another collection the tires won’t matter. It the new owner wants to drive it on the street etc. he’ll get to pick the tires of his choice. The dash has the following Honda OEM accessories – Volt Meter Outside temp. - Thermometer Altimeter (height above sea level) Quartz clock that keeps perfect time Also with the bike comes the – Owner’s manual Tool Kit 4 page Honda Brochure for the 1981 model Magazine articles of the 1st tests and write ups of the bike when introduced. The twin side bags appear to have never been used on the road and look like new. The exhaust system is original and in perfect condition. Virtually no CBX for sale has the OEM system intact (see Honda Stamping) – rust free. Most CBX’s have the crappy Kerker 4 into 2 setup that’s cheap – turns blue & rusts out. The reason I’m selling is that I am totally out of room and, I am slowly moving my museum "Genre" over to Street legal liquid cooled two strokes – primarily ones that were never imported into the USA. I am selling one of my best Crown Jewels 1st to hopefully to get a lot people watching so when I start listing the other 15 out of the collection that I'll be selling they’ll be in step with the excellent condition of all the bikes in my Museum.
