Vehicle Detail
1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible with the Numbers Matching 400/360 Horsepower Engine Gran Turismo Option selling at "No Reserve" The inventors of the Goat designed these cars with manual steering. Fortunately this model was ordered with power steering to handle the brute force under the hood of these vicious muscle cars. Most of the GTO fanatics know that 1966 and 1967 were the pinnacle of the Grrrrrr muscle car era. They simple don't make cars as extraordinary as these specimens anymore. This is a very rare extremely desirable highly documented Goat including the Broadcast Card and the Pontiac Historical Society Documents to prove that this unmolested GTO was ordered exactly as it appears in this auction. If you simply double click on the main picture of the auction page then all 24 pictures will be able to be viewed in the larger size by clicking the arrows on each side of the larger pictures. I purchased this Goat from the original owner that purchased this sweet GTO Convertible brand spanking new in 1967 at Couri Pontiac Inc. located at 525 Forest Avenue in Portland, Maine straight from that dealership. This sale also includes the original owners manual and the new owner Protect-O-Plate. He had always kept the car in his garage and treated it like the work of art that these cars have become. I will explain everything I found out from the previous owner at the point of purchase. This Goat is in very good condition and does have the original numbers matching 400 GTO engine. The car only had one repaint somewhere in the 1980's. The paintwork is a little faded, but still shows well as seen in the pictures. If the new owner desires to bring this car up to the next level I would recommend a nice paint job. Although the patina in the paint makes this a very nice drivers quality condition car to be driven and be proud of just that way it is. The prior owner told me that this car had never been in any accidents and I believe him. I scrutinized this entire car and saw no signs of it ever being hit, and believe all of the body panels to be original to this car. The odometer is believed to have rolled over just once and shows 9366 miles. This original GTO 400/360 horsepower cubic inch engine in this Goat is as close to the way it rolled out of the factory on to the showroom floor as far as I can tell. The quadrajet 4-barrel carburetor has been rebuilt and there is a new carburetor. Needless to say this GTO starts right up and runs great. This goat has factory power steering and handles wonderfully. Both doors open and close like when this car was brand new in 1967. This 400 engine was completely detailed with the correct Pontiac blue. The bucket seats and console as well as the entire interior is in very nice original condition as shown in the pictures. There is a new set of four clear plastic floor mats that sit on top of the original red carpet. These original bucket seats. All of the original factory seat belts are still in place. The original AM radio is currently not hooked up. I left the stereo decision up to the new owner. The dash pad is pristine with no imperfections. The convertible top was replaced with a brand spanking new white convertible top canvass and rear window about a year ago, so that should be good for many years to come. The power top dash switch is only working in the up position right now. It may be because of the cold weather, so that will need to be looked into by the new owner. This Goat rides on a full set of four Firestone raised white lettered tires on a set of four 14" inch Pontiac rally wheels with all four chrome beauty trim rings, and all four PMD center caps mounted with a full set of 20 new chrome lug nuts. I had the entire undercarriage sandblasted and painted satin black about a year ago. New rear body bushings were installed at that time. The floors and frame are all in very good condition. The inside of trunk floor was coated with AC Delco black and aqua spatter spray to make it appear factory correct. The trunk has a jack, crow bar, and carries a full size Pontiac rally wheel with a Firestone raised white lettered spare tire. This genuine Pontiac GTO Convertible has the original rear-end that came with this car from the factory. I have an open, clean, and clear Illinois title in my name that will be sent to the winning bidder by U.S. Priority mail the moment the funds are clear. The car will need to be picked up at my buddy's place just over the Illinois/Wisconsin border in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Why not make your money work for you while you enjoy yourself. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide that anyone can look up on-line has the 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible with the 400/366 horsepower engine and rally wheels valued at $135,460 in high condition, which they consider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored, or an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices. Nada has the average condition valued at $91,650, which they consider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a 20-Footer! Why not finally own your dream car for a fraction of those prices? The numbers don't lie! This Goat is a very valuable classic automobile! These super rare GTO's have consistently shown to escalate in value with each quarter. I can't see any winner bidder not being overjoyed with their purchase. What you see is exactly what you get! There will be endless compliments coming to whoever is the lucky winner of this rare classic Goat. I tried to describe all of the pertinent information, so any potential bidder can make the most informed decision possible before placing their bid. Thank You for taking the time to view my auction! Good Luck and Happy Bidding!! On Jan-03-18 at 09:56:00 PST, seller added the following information: I inadvertently mentioned that my GTO has the higher horsepower engine. It was brought to my attention that my goat has the 335 horsepower engine according to the Pontiac Historical Society documentation. The higher horsepower engine is for the GTO's with ram-air. My goat does not have ram-air. It still has the cool ram-air hood, but the inserts are stationary. The inserts can be opened up by the new owner, but this car is exactly the way it was ordered. If the scoops were opened up and a ram-air air cleaner was added that will increase the horsepower, but then that opens up the possibility for rain to get into the carburetor. I just felt this information was worth mentioning.
