OLDSMOBILE Real 344 v.i.n. Numbers Matching Rocket 400/325 Horse Power Genuine 442 Convertible Opportunities like this don't come around very often. This is an extremely rare 1969 Oldsmobile 442 that is proven to be genuine by the fact that the vehicle identification number starts with 344. The previous owner came from an upscale suburb in Northern Illinois. He had owned this 442 since the spring of 1985 and is believed to be the second owner prior to my ownership. If you simply double click on the main picture of this auction page then all 24 pictures will open up and be able to be viewed in the larger size by clicking the arrows on each side of the larger pictures. This is the first time this 442 Convertible has ever been offered to the public on eBay. If you have been looking for that classic muscle car investment to restore over the upcoming cold winter months then this rare Classic Muscle Car Convertible just may be exactly what you have been looking for. When this convertible was new this was not your father's Oldsmobile unless he was the cool Dad on the block. I don't know of any guys out there that wouldn't love a red 442 convertible. These late 1960's and early 1970's muscle cars have incredible investment potential and have often been referred to as rolling bank accounts. Why not make your money work for you while you enjoy yourself at the same time? Remember! When the top goes down the price goes up! All the body panels seem to be original to the car. I did not see any signs of this convertible being involved in any type of accidents. The trunk lid is really clean, so that may have been replaced. The entire body will need to be restored and freshened up with a new coat of paint. I am selling this car where every part and every piece on this car will need to be repaired, replaced, or restored to bring this droptop back to its former glory. Just imagine this 442 all redone. The body style is very sleek and well designed. This true 442 droptop can be driven while being restored. This engine does have the original numbers matching Rocket 400/325 horsepower 4-barrel engine with the original C-heads that has the original W and Z exhaust manifolds. The odometer is believed to have rolled over once. The majority of all the components on this engine are believed to be the original parts. There were new spark plugs and spark plug wires installed. The ball joints and tie rods were recently replaced on the right front. There is a newer alternator and battery, so this 442 starts right up. The front and the rear floor pans are the originals and have never been replaced. It would be hard to find another cleaner undercarriage then the one on this car, so it must have been garage kept for a good portion of its existence. There is a new set of four deluxe carpeted floor mats. I didn't see any imperfections in the dash, and the dash pad looks in very nice condition. There is an original AM radio in the dash, but it is not hooked up. This dash was never cut up like was typically done back in the day to fit aftermarket CD players. The options on this Oldsmobile include Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Convertible Top, Super Stock I wheels, Tinted Glass, and the original bench seat. The convertible top seems to be the original and features the glass back window option, although it will need replacement. An exact replacement canvass top can be purchased for around $500 including the back glass window option. The top is power, but only goes down manually. The new owner will need to address the top working through the power option. This 442 sits on a set of four Summit Radial Trac P215/70R14" inch raised white lettered steel belted radial tires with good tread mounted on 14" inch Super Stock I wheels. All four wheels have all four center caps, all four beauty trim rings mounted with chrome lug nuts. The key for the trunk is missing, but it appears that the original trunk floor is still in nice condition. Included in the glove box is an original 1969 Oldsmobile owner's manual. This sale is being made with a clean and clear title issued in my name in the State of Illinois. These older classics that have survived for nearly a half a century are becoming harder and harder to find. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide currently has a genuine 1969 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible with the original numbers matching Rocket 400/325 horse power engine listed at $105,225 in high condition, which they consider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored, or an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices. Nada has the average condition listed at $60,200 which they consider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a 20-Footer! They have the lowest condition value at $34,500 being considered a deteriorated restoration or a very poor restoration, but mostly usable "As-Is!" The lowest value does not represent a parts car, but would be considered as the price for a car needing a complete restoration. The Nada numbers don't lie! This Classic Iconic 442 Muscle Car Convertible is a very valuable automobile if given the proper restoration! Whatever this classic convertible sells for in this quick "No Reserve" 5-day auction is a win/win investment. It is extremely hard to find a highly desirable numbers matching 442 convertible in this day and age. This Oldsmobile is an investment that I believe will continue to rise as these convertible's have consistently shown to escalate in value with each quarter. This classic Oldsmobile recreation is for the father and son that has some spare time on their hands, and wants to bond as a family unit with a nice well worth it project, or for the high end muscle car restoration shop that does these cars to show car quality status. Here is a prime opportunity to acquire your dream car at a nominal price. I tried to list everything pertinent when I wrote this description, so every potential bidder can make the most informed decision prior to placing their bid.
