Vehicle Detail

1981 Lincoln Continental Mark VI Four-door Continental Mark VI sedan in dark nutmeg metallic with nutmeg cloth interior. 5.0 liter (302 CI) V8 fuel injected engine with overdrive automatic transmission. Exterior is in very good condition. Some small dents, scratches & paint chips. The worst of the chips is on the right headlight cover. Interior is the luxury group package in very good condition with no rips or cigarette burns to cloth interior. The shag carpet is in very good condition, but OEM front mats are gone. There are no sags in the headliner. No weird smells (tobacco, mildew, rodents, etc). The steering wheel controls for the cruise control are missing. There are a couple buttons on the radio missing. The steering wheel has a crack in the plastic. The power seats, air conditioning, radio (AM/FM), windows, & interior lights work. Cruise control doesn’t work (might work if buttons were replaced). Antenna doesn’t work (power up/down). Biggest issue- after about 45 minutes of driving the “message center” starts to beep & randomly flash messages (“wiper fluid low” seems to be most common along with changing date & time). I have not tried to solve this in the three years I’ve owned the car. Includes 2 sets of keys (not OEM), owner’s manual, sales literature, and full set of shop manuals. Tires are Firestone FR710 whitewalls with very little wear. Wire wheel wheelcovers (not wire wheels). 92,750 miles. This is a very good example of a 1981 Continental Mark VI. Good for weekend drives, cruise nights & local car shows. From 15 feet away it looks great. I bought it because it reminded me of the car I had in college & when we were first married (same reason I'm selling). It’s is not what I’d consider a collectible car (classic maybe), but it’s not priced as a collectible car. Priced between NADA “low retail value” & “average retail value.” By NADA definitions it’s certainly qualified as “average retail value,” but could be considered closer to “high retail value” (given condition of interior). Car can be shown if you’d like to take a look before bidding. I recommend taking a look to 1) see that it's as nice as it looks in the photos & 2) to see if what I might consider a minor problem is a major issue for you.
