Up for auction is my 1997 F150. The car ran awesome, great transmission and motor. However, I let it sit for about a year as I didn't have any use for it. I can only presume the PA winter and the salt solution they put on the road took a toll on the truck. When I went to start it recently the brake pedal went right to the floor. After having my mechanic check the car out he detailed what was wrong with the car. The brake lines had been "eaten" away from the salt solution. The rear rocker panels have rust on them and the bed has rust as well. The car does need some work to get it to pass inspection. Whether you want to fix the car, or use it for the drivetrain (which only has 88K on it) is up to you. The truck is a manual 5-speed (my favorite part about it). The car is not driveable in it's current condition, so it will need to be towed. I'm flexible if you need time to arrange towing. I know how difficult it can be.
