Vehicle Detail

This car was inherited this year after my 79 yo mom passed. She cherished this car and would get loads of compliments as she drove it around to work everyday. It was perfect for her driving 30 to 45 mph to her job about ten miles down the road, cautiously in the right hand lane. Even without power windows, power steering or power brakes, she would not even dream of getting rid of this car. Her mechanic would joke about how she could possibly have a new car with all the money she put into it over the years replacing parts as they would go. AIR CONDITIONER: She most recently changed out the A/C system, making it COLD because she hated the Florida heat. It blows out strong and keeps cold in even the hottest days. Unusual for these cars this age to find that, I am told. TIRES: In the past 1.5 years she replaced the tires, all 4, and they have much tread left. BATTERY: Battery changed out this year. Note about BATTERY: If the car is started every 1 to 3 days the car will start right up, but if it sits for a week or two without being driven, the battery seems to run down and I need to recharge it. I don't know if it is a poor connection at the terminals or if it is some sort of phantom charge always on the battery. RUBBER FLOOR MATS/TRUNK LINER: I also bought brand new beige RUBBER FLOOR MATS and TRUNK LINER for the sale. I do have the original beige color carpet trunk liner (in poor condition). This can be used as a pattern for a remade carpet trunk liner. HEADLINER:The interior HEADLINER is in pristine condition. DOOR HANDLES:Driver side door handle did break and I bought what is supposed to be a replacement part. It will possibly need new holes drilled to install. This part will have to be hacked and installed by the new owner. I also bought some plastic clamp screws (that hold on wall boards, some original screws were missing) and will include them. These also were the parts sold for this model. Mileage: In December of 2015 the Chevette service records showed 49,999 as the mileage. When I took over in July, she had about 53,000 miles and then the odometer one day showed "EMISSION" blocking out the mileage. I think she will need to have the catalytic converter replaced. CLOTH BUCKET SEAT: In excellent condition....they look almost new, unusual for this year but they have always been covered. The following items were standard on this model:1.6 LITER L4 2-BBL (98 CID) Engine RPO L174 speed manual transmission but the bill of sale shows paying an extra $335.00 in 1981 for the 3 speed AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION the car now hasCOMPUTER COMMAND CONTROL SYSTEM, this is the control system for the catalytic system, monitoring Oxygen in the exhaustRACK & PINION STEERINGBright Roof Drip Moldings12.5 Gal Fuel TankLeft Hand OSRV MIRROR, (there is no Right side mirror)Day/Night inside rear view mirrorFold down rear seat, Makes for great stowing capacityInside Hood ReleaseFront and Rear Bumper Rub Strips and Guards, (when you tap a car by accident you won't end up with a thousand dollars damage like on todays car, these bumpers actually ARE BUMPERS!. Catalyst, Feedback Fuel SystemThis Chevette comes with Beige Cloth Bucket Seats, in Great condition. Beige carpet lining floor in the front and back in fair to poor condition with lots! of wear on the floor under drivers side.Body without dings or dents. Never been in an accident, that I know of. Small amount of bubbling rust under bottom ledge of front window. Speckled dots of rust on front and back painted chrome color bumper metal. Rust is also seen on the bottom of the car at the exhaust pipe and muffler. (Look at picture and enlarge)Drives okay, Car slow to start some mornings, especially if not started for a few days, but once it starts in the morning it will be okay for the entire day. My mechanic told me that this car, 'isn't like cars of today, it's OLD SCHOOL, you need to depress the gas pedal 2-3 times and then turn the ignition." This technique serves me well. This car needs a new owner who will cherish the little beige Chevette and turn her into the princess she could be. Give her a more powerful engine and this humble lady will shock others as her little light body peels out from the starting gate. I know she would just love a souped up engine, some body paint, chrome work and an overhaul to be the lovely lady she wants to be. You are sure then to get even more compliments than my mom. I will send you all the original paperwork from the original sale. My Mom was the second owner, having inherited her from a little 98 year old lady in 2012. Doris saved all the papers. The original window price list, the owners manual, and service book. Did you know that on the original window price list it states that," based on 26 MPG, 15,000 miles/year, $1.55 /gallon, annual fuel cost $895.00" And that was in 1981........I guess gas prices really are a bargain today. Note: If you want any extra pics, let me know. On Oct-11-17 at 22:04:24 PDT, seller added the following information: I have been asked to provide more pictures of the floor on the drivers side and of the underside of the car. I have sent these pictures to those who asked and tried to post them here for all to see. I have apparently reached my limit of pictures, SO if you would like these pics just send me a request in the question area and I will send them to you as a answer to the question. But here is a synopsis of what they showed: The floor under the drivers side floormat has worn carpet on the left side by the door, very worn, with the carpet matting under that area also worn. The floor itself is sturdy and intact. The pictures of the underside of the car show surface rusting on the muffler and exhaust, some areas worse than others, possibly. This car has always lived in Florida, in the Tampa Bay area, close to the Gulf of Mexico, and always under a carport on concrete. Don't forget, send me a request for pics if you want. Thanks.
