Up for sale is this 1971 Chevrolet K10 1/2 ton factory 4WD Shortbed Fleetside truck. This is an original California black plate truck and I believe this truck spent most of it's life in the Pleasanton, CA area. The odometer shows 38,250 miles but I am unsure of the original mileage and almost certain that the odometer has turned over at least once in it's lifetime. The truck has been painted at one or more points in it's life and has had touch ups and bodywork in areas before as well. There is about a quarter size hole in the left front bottom of the drivers door that can be seen in pictures, and I have seen no other signs of any serious rust. The truck came factory equipped with a 350-V8, power steering, posi-traction rear end, and an TH350 automatic transmission. It has been converted to and retains the following drivetrain: Cummins 4BT turbo diesel engine, factory power steering, Hydroboost power brakes, TH400 transmission, posi-traction rear end. The truck is fairly complete and has had most of the hard conversion sourcing and work done. I was told by the previous owner that the Holset turbo and TH400 transmission were both rebuilt. The truck does run, drive, steer, shift, and brake but could use someone more knowledgeable about this type of conversion than I am, and that is prepared to invest the time and money to finish it. I am leaving it a fairly solid and complete project for the next owner to go in the direction they wish with some of the minor tweaks to finish it. In the pictures the passenger door handle is broken and I will replace it with a working used unit before the auctions end. I will also add new door lock cylinders and ignition switch so the buyer will have a pair of matching keys and all items will work with one key as intended from the factory. Most of the electrical items work as they should: wipers, headlights, turn signals, and running lights function. It may need a couple of bulbs for all lights to work. Speedometer is not hooked up and some other gauges may not work as well. All glass is in good condition for it's age. Clear California title, original California black plate, and dealers license plate frame are included with the sale. Overall it's a fairly solid, complete, and hard to find truck in it's factory drivetrain configuration and definitely on a whole other level with the drivetrain that is currently has. I hope it will go to someone that can bring it to a level it deserves and appreciate it. This truck has no reserve and will sell at auction to the highest bidder. Below are 40 plus pictures posted. On Sep-28-17 at 21:45:47 PDT, seller added the following information: The conversion starter sometimes will just click when you turn the key and other times it will turn over right away. If you turn the key a few times and click it the starter usually works fine. Sometimes it will not work and you may have to get down and barely pry on the edge of the starter gear to free it to spin freely. I am told this is a common problem and these starters need to be shimmed and then they should work without a problem like this. Obviously this one still needs to be shimmed.On Sep-30-17 at 10:57:59 PDT, seller added the following information: Unfortunately the wrong door and ignition lock that I purchased to replace these ones was shipped so I will not be adding a set of lock cylinders to the truck before the auction ends as there will not time to purchase another set and have them arrive in time. I will refund the buyer $50 so they can purchase the lock set and do it themselves. I will also leave the passenger replacement door handle off and include it with the truck for the buyer to install at the same time they change out the lock cylinders.
