Vehicle Detail
Please read this listing completely. I have tried to provide as much detail as possible so you can be confident in your bid. Feel free to ask questions on anything related to the vehicle or transaction. Up for sale is a 2005 Ford Excursion Eddie Bauer Edition. The Ford Excursion is the KING of SUVs. Plenty of room for the you, the wife, both kids, the dog and cat, to all go on a family vacation AND STILL you could still tow your mother-in-law... in the camper. The Eddie Bauer edition of the Ford Excursion was top of the line. Every available feature was added. This V10 engine, while it drinks the gas to the tune of 12MPG, will not leave you wanting for power or reliability. Even though this a 2005, this DOES NOT have the three valve head and the spark plugs were just changed 7,000 miles ago. So you won't have to worry about crazy repair bills or goofy tools to get the sparkplugs out. This expedition is very clean on the inside and has just a few (IMHO) minor scratches (pictured below) on the outside, as you might expect for a vehicle this age. There is one minor ding on the front right bumper (pictured). I have priced the vehicle accordingly, but it was there when I purchased it and it hasn't really bothered me. There is very little rust underneath as there is a complete professionally done underbody coat. I am the second owner of this Ford Excursion and purchased it locally from Ray Skillman Ford in Greenwood Indiana. I have NOT used this in the wintertime, for the most part I have kept it either in the barn or in the drive way. The reason I have not driven it was simply because it does use a lot of fuel and right after I purchased it gas went to $4.50 a gallon... costing me about $120 for one fill-up. Now with fuel in the $2.60 range about $70 to fill up. The reason I am selling is because it has sat and I have put less than 500 miles on it within the past two years. I felt it kind of a waste and need the money for other adventures. I believe the previous owner used it to tow a camper as there was a trailer brake controller installed. I am providing the Ford OEM wiring harness adapter with all the other extra goodies. Since it was used for towing I had the ball joints checked and they were just fine no play and no sticking. I replaced ALL FOUR shocks with Monroe magnum shocks, a very good shock absorber. I have not used this for towing therefor so no extra wear has been encountered on these items as a result. The radio has been professionally upgraded in this vehicle. The buttons on the steering wheel even still work, as well as the integrated entertainment system in the back. If you like music and entertainment this system will help keep you from boredom on those long miles. I am also including 4 IR headphones which ALL work (batteries NOT included). The remote to the entertainment system, the luggage rack bars (OEM still in original packaging), TWO fully functional key fobs and keys, and the manuals to both the radio and the SUV. I even have the keyless door code. The stereo is a JVC KW-AV61BT so you can google it and get a list of features as it is loaded with features. Will even work with your iPhone 7 as it connects via streaming Bluetooth for both hands free phone calls and streaming your music collection. However, there is still a 30-pin apple connector in the glove box should you have the older style apple device. It also has a SiriusXM installed and currently the subscription is active for demonstration purposes only. The power windows, power door locks, A/C, heat, and heated seats to roast your buns all work perfectly. There are two things on the inside that I feel need mentioning. The rear glass vents need a little push to open even when engaging the button. If you search the Ford forums you will find this is a thing with the Excursion. I usually keep mine closed and since the rear AC works so well there is no need to open them. The rear wiper works and works well but the motor is noisy. It's fully functional but it's just noisy in my opinion. I have not researched to find out if this is also a thing, but I felt like I needed to mention it. Everything else mechanically is in order. I'm a bit of a gear head in my spare time so some of this may be more detailed than you'd like or need but I'm putting out there so you can bid with confidence. Oil has been changed on regular intervals using fully synthetic Mobile 1 brand oil. Oil was just changed 100 miles ago but it's sat like that for about 9 months. I pulled the dipstick before I put this listing and it's still golden honey colored. I use K&N oil and air filters. The serpentine belt along with idler and tensioner pulleys are all new since I purchased it. This is a pretty typical maintenance item at 100K. As mentioned the spark plugs were changed and I used Autolite brand. All of the coil packs are original and haven't given me any issues. The transmission, both differentials and power steering fluids have all been changed. Brakes and rotors are in really good shape both front and rear. This has a full floating axle in the rear and the left (driver side) seal and outer bearing were replaced two years ago. Again according to the Ford forums on the internet this is a thing, but not a thing you'll have to deal with since I already did it for you. The right side has never been done but it never leaked like the left side did. The cooling system was flushed and the upper radiator hose and thermostat were replaced mainly because I typically do that at 100K. Fuel filter was changed by the dealer in Greenwood about three years ago. The battery is a Duralast Gold from Autozone installed 6/2015. The tires are in really good shape, 50% or more useful life remain and no rot. I just went to the auto parts store today and purchased three brand new bosh wiper blades and installed them. And again the AC blows ice cold, and I haven't needed to charge it. Pressures are good on both high and low sides. While this vehicle is a little over 12 years old, it’s still in really good condition IMHO. Would make a great family car and I have all the confidence in the world that this Ford Excursion will get you another 75K miles before you need anything major short of regular consumables (gas, tire and oil). Now for all the legal nonsense. This vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early should an offer be accepted. I will consider any reasonable offer. You are welcome to contact me with any questions. Should you be the winning bidder, a $250 non-refundable deposit is required immediately if you are the winner. Full payment is due in 7 days from the time the auction ends. Please make the remainder of the payment in either personal check or cashier’s check. If sending personal check, please allow an additional 7 days for the check to clear BEFORE taking possession of the vehicle. Keep in mind due to the age of the vehicle MOST banks won’t offer financing. If your wife, girlfriend and / or mistress gets mad at you because you spent too much, I can’t help you, your still on the hook to complete the deal. Due to the size of this vehicle it will NOT fit on my trailer so I cannot offer delivery. However, we can pick you up at the airport. Indianapolis International and Louisville are both pretty close to me. Good luck bidding!
