Vehicle Detail
Thanks for looking at my BMR R1200CLC. It's a great bike, but ready for a new home. Yesterday I scheduled hip replacement for October and the reality of putting many more miles on this bike....well - we all get old! I am the second owner of this bike. I purchased it in January of 2006 from the original owner. At that time it had 10,577 miles. I have only added about 6,000 in the 10+ years I've owned it. The reason - I own 6 other motorcycles. In other words I know about bikes and how to maintain them. This BMW got the fewest miles of my bikes because I stopped doing longer rides a few years ago. Mostly bar hopping for me now. It has been garaged it's entire life. The chrome shines, the paint is in good shape (more later), and there is absolutely no rust. Again, it has been garaged always. The original owner was from Denver and I live in Colorado Springs. The front tire is at about 40% - could use new for the new owner. The rear is near new with less than 2,000 miles on it. It needs nothing that I am aware of, just a new owner to ride it like it deserves. I'm assuming if you have gotten this far you know about R1200CLC's. They were BMW's foray into the touring cruiser market, going after HD. They were only built for 2 years before BMW threw in the towel for that market. They are large, comfortable and SLOW! I think it's the only bike that a stock HD could beat back in 2003. You can look up the specs, but about 60 HP. I personally love the appearance, incredibly unique with the quad front headlights. It is well balance and gets attention wherever it is ridden. All R1200CLC owners also know - the Capri Silver Metallic (code #906) is the FASTEST color! BMW included many great comfort items: heated seats, heated grips, cruise control, shaft drive, you get the idea. Here's a nice review of what the R1200CLC had to offer: http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/bmw/bmw_r1200cl.htm The Good: Low mileage ZTechnik Clear Tall Windshield - much better than stock ZTechnik performance exhaust (not loud) ZTechnik top mount luggage rack Brand new Odyssey pc680 battery - the best in my opinion, installed last week Some spare parts like new rear luggage top, stainless steel screw kit (in package), a few other odds and ends The Bad: The front fairing needs final painting. It is in perfect condition, I was having my painter add a second color to the top for a different appearance. Unfortunately my painter was killed in a m/c crash 5 months ago and didn't complete the job, just the sanding and primer. All it needs is final. There is a quarter size dent in the gas tank - see pictures. The tank was dropped by the original owner installing a new battery in 2005. If you have ever changed a battery in one of these you know the challenge, it's under the tank. Anyway, he dropped it and there is a small dent. There are (very) minor scrapes on the back luggage trunk - see pictures. This is from me backing the bike against the wall and backing into the drywall in the garage. May be able to buff out, I haven't tried. Please check my feedback, I've sold a few motorcycles in the past on EBay and always had satisfied buyers. I'm a man of my word and if you pick the bike up and don't believe the bike exceeds your expectations I will return your money and re-list the bike. I'm confident it a fantastic bike and will bring years of great riding to it's new owner. Fell free to email me if you need additional info, or if you'd like specific pictures, I'll try and get you what you need. I do have a low reserve on this bike, feel free to email me an offer. Sorry - it isn't $1,500. Ridiculous offers will be ignored. Shipping is the buyers responsibility, but I will help all I can on this end. I have free and clear title in my possession. Please have your funds lined up, and have your wife/significant other's permission!
