Vehicle Detail
I have owned this car since 1985. I did bodywork, paint, weatherstripping, carpet and headliner in 1994. I also replaced the original single piston master cylinder/9"drum brake system with the 1973-76 A-Body power disc brakes in front and replaced the rear axle with an 8-1/4" 3.21 ratio axle with 10" drums and 5 lugs on 4-1/2" bolt circle wheels. I also installed the stiffer torsion bars and rear springs from an early 70's V-8 powered A-Body and new ball joints. The car stops when you want it to now, rain or shine, and was my wife's daily driver for over 10 years. It has been parked for several years and again needs some TLC. The paint is gone and there are holes rusted in several places including: around the bottom of the windshield and rear window, through roof above the drivers side rear window, through the lower corners of the doors, in front of the left rear wheel and at the bottom left rear corner. I repaired the holes with fiberglass when I painted the car but some will need repair again. The car had been in an accident before I bought it. Drivers door had been replaced, there was a dent in front of gas cap, and the K-frame and the lower drivers side control arm was bent. I replaced the K-frame and lower control arm and the car aligns and tracks fine now. The carpet is faded and the seats need reupholstered. The headliner still looks good. The block and head are both cracked. The carburetor is a NOS Holley Economiser that was run very little before the car was parked. The original puny radiator was replaced with an Aspen/Volare slant six radiator. The ignition is the Mopar performance electronic ignition and the voltage regulator is the later solid state regulator. The transmission has "morning sickness", that is it needs to idle in neutral for a couple minutes when you first start the car to fill the passages with fluid before it will move. The original ball and trunnion u-joint has been replaced with a standard slip joint and u-joint. The original front seats are included and I have an extra rebuilt brake power booster for the car. This a solid project car and is suitable for a V-8 because of the upgraded suspension, brakes and rear axle.
