Vehicle Detail

THIS ITEM HAS BEEN SOLD> Strong running RS. 34/11 drive. No major damage. Has not been used in about a year. Has a carb issue and won't start without starter fluid sprayed into the air cleaner. This, coupled with my wife's terror of motorcycles, and my age, has kept me from using it, or keeping it. Runs very well when the carbs are working. Needs a carb rebuild kit installed. Also the ignition key switch doesn't work anymore so I installed a toggle switch under the dash, which is actually really convenient. One of the choke cables is the wrong one and is too short, but works. There are a couple of those tiny little light bulbs, which have gone out, inside the instruments. All instruments work except the resetable trip meter will not reset. The fork bellows boots are both cracked but in place. This bike has a pretty good (if I say so myself) spray can black paint job over the silver original color. There are of course chips here and there. There is a very loud horn installed which you can see in the photos, along with the ignition switch. Bike comes with keys for the bags and non working key switch as well as some extra tools and a Clymer manual and the original horn. Vin # 6185475. I used this bike to commute for some years. It has, in it's life, had a couple of kick stand incidents so there are some very minor scuffs and bumps here and there, nothing really noticeable however. The only thing that keeps me from using it is the carb thing and my wife keeps me from fixing it. It needs a good home. I bought my first RS in 1976, brand new, Daytona gold, and I have never settled for anything else. I went from Denver, Colorado to Olympia, Washington and back in 21 hours on that bike and I betya that this is the only motorcycle upon which one can fall asleep at 130 mph. over the years, I have had three of these and I suppose this is the last. Darn thing is starting to feel heavy to me. I live out in the boonies so buyer is responsible for all shipping and / or pick up. Can't beat the price. Ask questions if you want. This bike sits 280 miles south of Denver, Colorado and 155 miles north of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
