About Me | See my other items | Email A Friend Description of [1969 BMW R60US telescopic fork vintage BMW for sale] We are offering for sale this lovely and quite rare 1 0f 1171 produced ever in this configuration and 1 of only 443 produced in 1969 alone, a BMW "R60US". Telescopic forks for the 600cc and 500cc models were introduced as an option in the United States only in 1968-1969. They were then used on the slash-5 series BMWs starting in model year 1970. (Plush Ride). This vintage motorcycle is mostly original paint (except the tank) and has many rare accessories installed that every vintage BMW enthusiast will appreciate. Magura Euro handlebars, Pagusa solo seats (front and rear), headlight bumper, beautiful aluminium rims, Sealed 6V/14ah battery. Bike is in very good riding condition and absolutely needs nothing. Bike come with original owner’s manual, tool kit, mirror, ignition and tank keys. This machine always starts in 2 kicks. Cycle is a subject to some nicks and scratches that come with 48 years of life. Numbers all match!!! Matching frame, engine, tag and title numbers. It is a very honest bike, one of the nicest riding and looking pre-1970 BMW bikes we have had in our collection. It is all original bike w/o any mods. This bike has been stored in controlled environment conditions in its life and it shows. It is quite clean machine, not perfect but a great everyday runner. Following maintenance was performed recently: Top end disassembled, inspected – up to specs, - $350 New top end new gaskets and seals installed - torqued back to factory specs, - $350 New Ignition side gaskets and seals installed, - $375New Oil pan gasket installed, - $120 New Exhaust mufflers installed, - $650 New Drive Shaft boot installed, - $85 New Solo Pagusa driver and passenger seats installed, - $765 New switch and harness installed, - $225 New engine, transmission, and final drive oil installed, (Valvoline VR1 40Wt motor, GL4 Gear oil 85-90 in tranny and final drive) - $100 Front forks rebuilt, - $250 Bing Carburetors rebuilt, - $125 Timing has been set, new spark plugs installed, - $60 Total Parts and Labor - $3455.00** We were told the slingers service was done by one of the previous owners around 10 years and 2k miles ago. The clutch and brakes work well; gearbox goes through all 4 gears as it should. Lights and horn also all work as intended. Bike may need new tires as I have noticed some weather cracking on the sidewalls. “The Telescopic Forks and opposing cylinder engine always get a lot of attention." Note the side reflectors, front and rear, on the 1969 BMW R60US. These are absent on the white, black, and gray bikes. BMWs appearing in American show rooms early in 1969 had these reflectors, which were mandated by the Department of Transportation. Bikes sold in 1968 and earlier, both with Earles and telescopic forks, did not have these reflectors. Please look closely at the photos and video as they are an important part of the description. Please ask questions before bidding should you have any. We make every effort, to accurately describe items and their condition, and have an extensive track record of accuracy.
