It was far from stock and the machine ran and handled like no 1970’s Honda I had ever driven. The owner / builder is from the Knoxville area and specializes in creating fast street machines from early seventy’s Hondas. Soon I had to have one so I purchase an original paint 1973 silver Honda XL350 with 5,195 miles and loaded it up on my motorcycle trailer and headed for Knoxville. The six-month build consisted of: - New piston JE .40 over with honed cylinder - Complete valve job - Gas tank cleaned and professional properly re-coated by GTL Advantage - New Mikuni 36mm carb with K&N filter - New Chrome Redwing rear shocks - New wiring harness, battery and strap - New petcock - New lever set - New front sprocket (15 tooth) - New rear sprocket (35 tooth) - New chain - New front and rear Avon tires - Rebuilt front forks with new seals and oil - New stainless steel polished down pipe with stainless steel quiet core muffler - New tail light assembly The bike pulls strong, shifts easily and is a blast to drive. The hotter motor, the single 36mm Mikuni carb and the re-gearing makes for a really fun “hypermotard style” riding experience. The bike now has 6,196 miles on it.
