Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE I purchase this museum quality machine from a large collection out of Idaho two years ago. I’ve always thought the full fairing design on these late 1970’s BMW’s were beautiful and I wanted one to add to my collection. I had the bike shipped here to North Carolina and when it arrived I was very happy with the overall condition. In fact, the paint was so nice, I was very tempted not to ride the bike at all and just put it in my collection. The bike had been displayed in a climate controlled warehouse for many, many years so all the gauges and controls are as new. Good sense finally took over and I brought the bike into my local BMW Airhead expert to get the bike back into service so I could ride it. The bike received a new set of Michelins with new tubes, all the fluids including engine, transmission, driveshaft, final drive, fork and brake (fluid) were changed. New spark plugs were added and points were adjusted, ignition timing and carbs were balanced. New correct gas lines were installed. While the wheels were off, the wheel bearings were cleaned and re-packed. We also replaced the front fork boots as they were torn and installed a NOS steering damper that had been leaking. Note the Works rear shocks. The paint everywhere is really spectacular as is the overall condition of this beautiful machine, including the wheels. Everything presents at a very, very high standard. I’ve put less than 200 miles on the bike in the last two years. Are the miles accurate? Yes, I have an Odometer Disclosure Statement from BMW of Salt Lake stating the miles when sold as 3,883 miles to the previous owner. I also have a copy of the subsequent Idaho title issued in Sept 10 2003 with the actual miles recorded as 3,883. So is this a real Motorsport? Well the vin number falls within the range 6182001 thru 6183592. The bike was sold to me as a real Motorsport but I have not owned this bike since it was new and there always seems to be some doubt as there are more than 200 of these around. All evidence is that it is. I have a clear North Carolina title in my name. I am selling a number of bikes to make way for a vintage motorcycle I have been chasing for years.
