This is a 2000 BMW 740i M Sport "Sporty Shorty" The wheelbase is shorter, suspension stiffer, front seat side bolsters larger, and limited slip differential as part of the package. The engine and front end have been rebuilt. Car was running fine before rebuilt, but VANOS gears were worn/ knocking. Once engine disassembly began, it turned into a rebuild project. I have many receipts and pictures as evidence of the work done. Southern car, no rust. Body is straight. Hood has a couple dents from previous owner fan explosion, common on this model. Passenger side rear window needs window regulator. Rebuild has about 50 miles on it. It's been driven short distances only. Maybe ok for longer trips, but I would trailer it to be on safe side. Interior is good for its age. Leather is good, slight normal wear on driver's seat side bolster from entry/ egress. Headliner sags a little in rear (normal). Driver's seat needs a switch for thigh support extension. It's clean inside and obviously cared for it's life. Engine was meticulously rebuilt with all new gaskets, O-rings, seals. The timing chains and guides are IWIS/ BMW. Block had good compression, not burning any oil so it was left alone to spare the factory BMW cylinder lining from honing. Got it all back together and it cranked right up fine, but idle is a little lopy. Check engine light is on, cyl 4 misfire, cam sensor bank 1. I had a friend who has dealership caliber software plug into it and here was his diagnosis. The bank 1 camshaft timing wheel is slightly out of position. Therefore the camshaft position sensor cannot read accurately and thus the car is electronically out of time. Mechanically it is in time, it cranks, runs, and drives. I deleted the mufflers and coated the exhaust system with a ceramic coating. Will need rear tires. Hood shocks are shot, Electronics seem to work, HID lights, door locks, center console display screen. Some pixels out in odometer/ status display on gauge cluster. Overall normal wear for it's age/ mileage.
