Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1983 Porsche 944. I am the second owner. I purchased this car from the family of a friend that passed away in 2013. The car had been stored for over 20 years. While it was in very good condition, I still replaced nearly everything conceivable for quality and safety reasons. (Brakes, Belts, Struts, Shocks, Distributer, Radiator, Tires, Fuel Pump, and numerous other items) All work was done by a local reputable foreign car repair company that specializes in Porsche. The car also has an upgraded stereo and speakers installed to look like stock. The body is in good shape with no rust or dents, but does have scratches and blemishes consistant with a car of it's age. This car has some attributes that make it very unique. It was ordered in May of 1982, which would make this one of the first cars delivered to the U.S. (The 1983 944 was first model available in the US) Factory Sienna Red is now very difficult to find. This car also has a very unusual cloth interior. The value on these cars has now begun to climb. I am asking far less than I have into the car, but a little more than most 944's are going for. The reason is if you are serious about owning this piece of Porsche history, the mechanical upgrades have all been completed. I have all of the paperwork from day one including the purchase agreement. Please contact me directly with any questions or requests you have. 920-680-1498 Per many requests, I have added a photo of the engine compartment and undercarriage. As you can see, it is very clean. Car was not driven in snow or rain. Also this car has power windows, power locks and a removable top with good seals. On Mar-02-17 at 07:37:02 PST, seller added the following information: I added an additional photo of the Vehicle ID card per several requests. Also here are interior exterior comments per request. I would rate the interior as an 8 on a scale of 1-10 (I am picky) The fabric and carpet are really nice. There is a tiny crack between the speaker and vent on the dash (Very common for this car but not real bad like most). It is very difficult to see unless you get very close. Also the original owner attached a radar detector to the dash using velcro. I discarded the detector, but left the velcro in place for fear of damaging the dash. It could probably be removed safely, but I dod not want to take the chance. On Mar-02-17 at 08:37:00 PST, seller added the following information: I was asked to post more pictures and a video of the car running. It is currently in a storage unit that gives me very little opportunity to get pictures. I did start it and record the car running, but I am having trouble uploading the video. Here is what I can tell you. The car started immediately. (First attempt since last September) It accelerated and idled perfectly. For grins I turned on the A/C, and the belt began to squeal. Very strange as the A/C worked very good for the little bit I had the car out last summer, and the belt only has about 1000 miles on it. I have a call into my mechanic for his thoughts. It has no effect on the performance of the car, but is nice to have on a hot day. My goal here is full disclosure. The belt looks perfect. On Mar-02-17 at 08:59:03 PST, seller added the following information: I just talked to the mechanic that is familiar with the car. His only comment is the obvious one that the compressor is likely hanging up on the A/C unit. I cannot confirm this as we half a fresh half foot of snow on the ground and I will not drive the car in it. Worst case is no A/C, Best case is it is just hung up from sitting all winter. Let me know if you have more specific questions. On Mar-02-17 at 12:33:56 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE: Mechanic made a house call. (Good man) Opinion is that the belt (which is brand new) could be a little tighter. It is most likely that the drag from the engaged A/C is causing squealing for this reason. I will not take it out in the snow, so not sure if I will get into the shop prior to sale. On Mar-03-17 at 12:15:25 PST, seller added the following information: Per request, Here is a complete list of new items that were installed November of 2014. Distributer Cap, Fuel Filter, Air Filter, Timing Belt Kit and Balance Shaft, Ignition Rotor, Accessory Belt and Idlers, Hood Shocks, Rear Hatch Shocks, Tires, Windshield (Had a chip I did not like), Radiator, 7 year Battery, Wipers, , Crank Sensor (Mechanic said they were problem items and I should replace since I am this far into it) Fuel Pump, Radiator Hose, All Fluids, Shocks, Struts, Bluetooth Stereo and Speakers to match original mounts.Whew! Yes I spent a small fortune...He was a respected friend and I wanted to see his baby on the road again. On Mar-05-17 at 04:59:09 PST, seller added the following information: Update: I am getting a lot of questions about the exterior of the car. Like I have noted previously, to the best of my knowledge it is 34 year old paint. The original owner must have had a touch up pen (or something similar) as you can see touched up spots especially on the nose. There are blemishes and scratches on the car, but they do not photograph well (no dents or rust). My best overall description is that the car looks very good going down the road, and looks very good from 10 feet. Not a show car, but very good for it's age. I have also been asked to post a video of the car running. I have not been able to upload the video. I also have not been able to text or email it. Evidently I am not tech savvy enough, or my device will not support video transfer. I am 100% confident saying that the car starts and runs very good. While I personally have only put about 800 miles on it, it has always started and run without issue. Please continue to ask me any specific questions you that have, as I want to make sure that your expectations are met.
